This maths resource relates to place value: tens and ones. Please note it is a hands on resource and the lesson plan should be used in conjunction with the presentations as there is a lesson starter presentation. It can be used for reviewing tens and ones or teaching it from scratch, so the detailed lesson plan is flexible. Some preparation is needed to carry out the activities such as collection of different coloured straws, elastic bands, suggested materials such as counters, unifix cubes; cut out the 1 digit number tiles for the worksheet or you can get children to select two numbers from a pile, write it down and then describe the place value - see 5. in the list below. This product contains: Lesson Starter PowerPoint Presentation - Counting in tens from 0 to 100 and back. Also included is the Hundred Square if you need to demonstrate counting in steps or groups of 10. Main Lesson PowerPoint Presentation (50 Slides) together with lesson plan Detailed Lesson Plan (Presentation slides are referred to)- Includes whole class and independent activities. Place Value Grids - tens/ones and tens/units - for practical activities Blank Place Value Grid Worksheet and Cut/paste activity sheets for making 2-digit numbers. Children choose a 1 -digit number from container 1 and another 1-digit number from container 2 to make a 2-digit number which they stick onto their worksheet and describe the number, e.g. 35 = 3 tens 5 ones; 30 + 5. This resource relates to statistics on the topic of dot plots. It introduces dot plots on PowerPoint (12 Slides). The presentation demonstrates how the data was collected, rearranging data in numerical order, and presenting the data on a frequency table. Using the information on the frequency table, students are shown how to create a dot plot/line plot via Slide Show animation. Two detailed examples are shown. Ideal for early finishers and for those pupils who need more practice in adding up coins. Print off, cut out and glue into workbooks You may wish to record pupils’ work and so this resource is great for cutting out and sticking into workbooks or onto plain paper. Pupils do not have to work through the task cards in number order. Whatever ability the pupil is at, you can choose the appropriate task card. There is a Recording Sheet with space for the pupil’s name and date for when each activity card was completed. Alternative uses I have included blank card and coins which you can prepare to suit the needs of your pupils. E.g. This pack relates to euros and euro cents currency. Updated 17 May 2022 to include two versions of the original Presentation and worksheets showing the different ways euros/cents are written. Aimed at KS1/Kindergarten/Grade 1 and ESL/EFL students. The presentation can be used as follow-up to the first pack and builds upon the skills students have learnt previously. It still uses a step-by-step approach to teaching money but using higher value coins. This pack contains: <strong>A comprehensive PowerPoint Presentation (53 Slides) - divided into convenient sections. </strong> 1.Reviewing coins and their values, money exchange and using the 50c, €1 and €2 coins. 2. Using €1 and €2 euro coins. Using combination of coins to equal the value of the one euro and two euro coins. 3. Using euros and cents together - this is explained in the presentation with various whole class activities 4. Giving change from €1 and € 2 euro coins. The Presentation also includes whole class activities and different strategies students can use to work out money problems. Students also learn to change, e.g. 125 cents to €1.25/1,25€. **4 Flexible Lesson Plans - contains objectives, plenaries and main lesson. This resource is primarily aimed at EYFS/Reception and Year 1 as it relates to counting to 10 and writing addition sentences using a Tens Frame. The only preparation is to print and laminate the A4 size task cards. Content: • All Task Cards are also on PowerPoint Slides • 10 Counting Task Cards - PDF • 25 Addition Task Cards - PDF • 2 Blank Ten Frames • Teacher Notes Counting Task Cards The cards are on PowerPoint Slides and as PDF activity worksheets which you can print off and laminate. Students count the counters or dots and write down the number. You can do this activity as a whole class. Play the PowerPoint Presentation and students can either say how many counters they see or write the answer on their whiteboards. 25 Addition Task Cards The addition task cards are on PowerPoint Slides. Hand out whiteboards/dry erase pens. Show one or two slides. Tell students that There are two blue blank boxes below the tens frame for students to write two addition sums. Ask: How many blue counters do you see? Ask: How many yellow counters do you see? Now tell the students to write an addition sum using the plus and equals sign and then to show you on their whiteboards. Ask: Does it matter which way we write the addition sum? And would it change the answer? You can print out the task cards as they are also saved as PDFs and laminate for students to practise write addition sums two ways. Other suggested uses Learning about doubles. Select some of the addition cards including those with the same amount colours on each card, i.e. 1 + 1; 2 + 2; 3 + 3; 4 + 4; 5 + 5. Ask children what they notice about the number of counters? Same number repeated twice, 3 + 3. A nice introduction for children in reception class to identify the one pence coin. The worksheets then increase in difficulty for Year 1/2.
