There are two task cards to a page.
The task is in two parts:
• First students add up the coins/money in the first column and write the price of the item.
• The middle column shows the money used to pay for the item.
• Students work out the change using whichever method they are comfortable with and then write the change given in the last column.
The recording sheet can be used to write the date each card was completed.
Great for early finishers and/or you want to review money with your students.
You can laminate and cut out the cards or just stick some of the cards into workbooks you want your students to complete as an extension of your lesson.

This resource is primarily aimed at EYFS/Reception and Year 1 as it relates to counting to 10 and writing addition sentences using a Tens Frame.
The only preparation is to print and laminate the A4 size task cards.

Counting Task Cards
The cards are on PowerPoint Slides and as PDF activity worksheets which you can print off and laminate. Students count the counters or dots and write down the number.
You can do this activity as a whole class. Play the PowerPoint Presentation and students can either say how many counters they see or write the answer on their whiteboards.
25 Addition Task Cards
The addition task cards are on PowerPoint Slides. Hand out whiteboards/dry erase pens. Show one or two slides.
Tell students that There are two blue blank boxes below the tens frame for students to write two addition sums.
Ask: How many blue counters do you see?
Ask: How many yellow counters do you see?
Now tell the students to write an addition sum using the plus and equals sign and then to show you on their whiteboards.
Ask: Does it matter which way we write the addition sum? And would it change the answer?
You can print out the task cards as they are also saved as PDFs and laminate for students to practise write addition sums two ways.
Other suggested uses
Learning about doubles.
Select some of the addition cards including those with the same amount colours on each card, i.e. 1 + 1; 2 + 2; 3 + 3; 4 + 4; 5 + 5.
Ask children what they notice about the number of counters? Same number repeated twice, 3 + 3.
Say 2 + 2 = 4 is the same as saying double 2 is 4
3 + 3 = 6 is the same as saying double 3 is 6
Optional
All the task cards on are on PowerPoint, so you can change the colour of the counters and print off.

A one hour lesson for children to explore repeating patterns in the context of Christmas.
The lesson should last 50 mins to 1 hour depending on how long your students take to design their patterns:
Introduction to set the scene: 10-15mins;
Main Lesson 15-20 mins;
Consolidation of lesson (work at table): 20 mins; and
Plenary/Closing session 5-10mins.
Bring in some Christmas wrapping paper with repeated patterns of pictures and/or shapes or you can display Slide 1 showing examples of Christmas patterns.
The children may have been wrapping presents or looking at wrapped presents. Focus their attention on the patterns.
This lesson takes children through looking at simple picture patterns and working out the next picture in the sequence.

Here are some additional worksheets on numbers and number words.
A lovely addition to Numbers/Number Words 1 and 2.
Number word to number match up Worksheets (x5) - Children draw a line from a number word to match up to its numeral. Each worksheet gets harder.
Counting worksheets (x4) - Each ten frames shows different number of dots which the children count and write in words in the space provided.
Double Ten Frames Read and Draw worksheets (x3)- Teen numbers up to 20. Children read the number words and then draw the same number of dots.
One more/one less worksheets (x5) - Children read the numbers in words and then write in words one less and one more on either side of the number word. In addition, two of the worksheets have a missing letters activity. Children insert the missing letters in the number words.
Doubles worksheets (x3); and
Writng doubles number sentences worksheets (x5) - Each box contains robots which the children count. They write the number in figures and in words. Then they double the number and write in figures and words. The worksheets are differentiated in that some children may be able to write doubles number sentences.
