There are three different activities for students to review letter sounds and to decode and read CVC words and practise reading sight words in sentences. Content: Worksheets: Short A to E: Spring Word and Picture Match Worksheets A to E: Read Simple Sentences and Writing Worksheets 1 - 3: Missing Letters in CVC Words Spring Word and Picture Match (with Answers) In this activity, students draw lines to match up the CVC pictures on the flowerpots to the words on the flowerheads. Read Simple Sentences and Writing Each worksheet contains sight words which the students should read and then read the simple sentences filling in the CVC words in the sound boxes that matches the pictures. This resource pack is on the theme of All About Me - PSHE link. Updated with PowerPoint Name Spinner You can use it as an icebreaker in the first week of term to find out about your students and they can find out about each other’s similarities and differences. <strong>Content</strong> Teacher’s Notes Learning Objectives and starter activity How to use the PowerPoint Presentation generator questions/names PowerPoint Presentation to randomly generate questions - I have typed in the questions. Start the Slide Show and then click on From Beginning icon. Press the ‘s’ key to stop and the PowerPoint will automatically stop on a question. Start the generator again by pressing the spacebar. PowerPoint Presentation to randomly select names in your class - I have set up the presentation - just type in the names of your students and save. Then as above go into Slide Show and then click From Beginning. The presentation will randomly generate the names. Press the ‘s’ key to stop and the PowerPoint will automatically stop on a name. To start the generator again hit the spacebar. This single phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘dr’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred child-friendly and a step up from CVC and CCV to Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This smaller pack contains: Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan. PowerPoint Presentation 1 - includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words and whole class activities to prepare children for their independent activities. PowerPoint Presentation Phoneme Count - Again, as in the others, I have listed all the CCVC words and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures). Encourage children to make simple sentences with the words to understand its meaning and distinguish between nouns, verbs or adjectives. This resource focuses on repeated patterns using Christmas patterns and shapes. Students can practise creating their own Christmas patterns. Teacher’s Notes describes the lesson which you can choose to make it last throughout the whole morning or afternoon or 1 hour session. Content: PowerPoint Presentation (10 Slides) - Include whole class activities, examples of repeated Christmas patterns, in the Presentation children are asked where they have seen repeated patterns of pictures - they might mention their wallpaper at home, car seat covers, on printed clothes (e.g. socks) etc. Differentiated Activity Sheets 1 and 2 - Complete the sequence of pictures Activity Sheet 1b – Pictures to cut out to complete Activity Sheets Blank Repeating Patterns Worksheets to create own repeating pattern Extension Patterns Worksheet Extension Christmas Shapes New worksheets for early finishers A one hour lesson for children to explore repeating patterns in the context of Christmas. The lesson should last 50 mins to 1 hour depending on how long your students take to design their patterns: Introduction to set the scene: 10-15mins; Main Lesson 15-20 mins; Consolidation of lesson (work at table): 20 mins; and Plenary/Closing session 5-10mins. Bring in some Christmas wrapping paper with repeated patterns of pictures and/or shapes or you can display Slide 1 showing examples of Christmas patterns. The children may have been wrapping presents or looking at wrapped presents. Focus their attention on the patterns. This lesson takes children through looking at simple picture patterns and working out the next picture in the sequence. Opportunity for children to create their own repeated patterns by cutting and pasting pictures - using pictures on Activity Sheet 1b Opportunity to create a whole sheet of repeated patterns and pictures/shapes to show to the whole class in the plenary- Extensions Pattern Worksheet. ICT Link - The more competent computer users can create colour filled shapes to produce their own design of repeated patterns to show the rest of the class and explain what they did on the computer. This product relates to counting activities, missing numbers (writing in words and figures) and finding more or fewer. Aimed at: Pre-K/K As you play slides 3 to 4 the children count aloud the numbers. Slide 3 is from 1 to 10 and Slide 4 from 11 to 20. You have the option of using Slides 5 to 26 for more counting from 0 to 20. It is a 70 slide PowerPoint presentation which includes the following whole class activities: • General counting 0 to 20. • Counting leprechaun pictures • Working out ‘How many more…?’ • Working out ‘How many fewer…?’ • Counting pots of gold and then saying which has more gold coins • Differentiated missing numbers grids 1 to 10, 1 to 15, 1 to 30. <strong>Independent Follow-up Work</strong> There are 4 activity tasks for the students to undertake. Activity Sheet 1 (x22)– Students read the number in the circle and then cut out that number of gold coins. They then tick which pot has more coins. Count and color activity (x3)– More counting practice – there are too many counters in each grid. The students read the digit in the green box and then color in the required number of coins to match the digit. Missing Numbers and Words (x2) – numbers 1 to 10 grid, 1 to 15 grid and for the more able 1 to 30 grid with missing numbers to fill in. Students write in the missing numbers in the grid. When they have done this, they then write the numbers that are missing in words. Worksheets (x3) on How many more…? - Students work out the answers to the tasks. This phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘pr’ CCVC words. As with the other consonant blends packs: it is child-centred and child-friendly and Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics. Aimed at: Foundation stage and Keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students. It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends. This pack contains: Flexible Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan. Because the lesson plan is flexible you can choose a 15 min phonic input, 30 mins or an hour phonics input. PowerPoint Presentation 1 (29 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words and whole class activities to prepare children for their independent activities. It also explains meanings of words through pictures. PowerPoint Phoneme Presentation (17 Slides)- Optional (Use as reference - some children may still be struggling with segmenting/blending) - I have listed all the CCVC words (13) and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures) - extension some children may be able to give you other meaning for the words in a sentence. I have illustrated through clipart words such as ‘press’ ‘prep’ ‘prim’, ‘prop’ and ‘prom’. Flashcards and words with and without sound buttons and lines. (Laminate and cut apart for use) Activity 1 - 2 Sets of cut/paste activities (1 set with handwriting lines, the other set without), (5 activity sheets in each set) Worksheet 1 - Completing initial missing blends and then writing out the words and drawing pictures for each word. Worksheet 2 - Unscrambling the words and writing them opposite each picture, Writing a sentence for each of the 4 words. Worksheet 3 - for the more able students - very short text called ‘The Proof’ to review ‘pr’. Students read the text and answer 4 questions, circle ‘pr’ CCVC words and and write a sentence for each one - (2 different writing lines). You can combine the set of pictures and words with the other resources I have done on consonant blends - creating a set of pictures and words for future use.
