This is a problem-solving activity in which children have to put the correct numbers onto the train carriages, making sure that each carriage weighs 11kg.

The first sheet provides information about how we breathe. The following three sheets are diagrams which need to be labelled. The labels are written on the fifth sheet and can be cut out and stuck on or copied on to the worksheets. I have used these sheets with Year 5 and 6 classes.

This is a test which I have given at the end of a unit of study on earthquakes and volcanoes with Year 5 or 6 classes. The test requires children to know about tectonic plates, the layers which make up the Earth and the different parts of a volcano.

This is a path-finding maths puzzle using the 3 times table. Once the puzzle is finished, you can use a mirror to show a symmetrical figure. It is not a perfect picture, but you should be able to see a snowman!

These are two wordsearches with a Christmas theme. Wordsearch 1 contains secular words to do with Christmas, whilst Wordsearch 2 has words relating to the nativity.

This activity can be used to make a Christmas heart-shaped basket or a container for Valentine's Day treats. It can be quite fiddly, but the finished baskets look great and can be filled with sweets or small cookies.

This is a series of ideas for creative writing at Christmas time in primary classes. They can be adapted for different age groups.

This is a reading comprehension activity based on the Elizabethan festival of Twelfth Night. I have used this as an activity to complete a unit of study on the Tudors which comes to a conclusion in December. It can also be used as part of a short historical project on Christmas and how it was celebrated in different historical periods.

This is a timeline of artists, composers and writers from 1840 to 1903. One sheet contains information which needs to be plotted onto the timeline. Children could cut out the information boxes and stick them on, or could write the information onto their timeline. This timeline would be part of a unit of study on the arts in Victorian times during which children would examine art, listen to music and read books from the time. This worksheet is also available as part of a larger resource set.

This resource includes a powerpoint presentation, looking at some of the main artists, composers and writers from the Victorian period. There are suggested follow-up activities on the final page, as well as a timeline for the children to complete. I have used this with Year 5/6 children.

This is a test that I have used to assess progress of year 5/6 children midway through the year. It covers areas of English grammar that they will have studied in the previous 4 months. There is a full answer sheet.

These look great when they are finished. I have given clear instructions on the first sheet and pictures of an example which I created. The trick is to keep the pictures as simple as possible so that the children can recreate them for day and night. They are a bit difficult to display, but children are fascinated by seeing the difference from one side and then the other.

I use these line guides to enable children to write neat copies of poems and short pieces of prose onto plain A4 paper. The line guides are placed underneath the plain sheet, held in place by paper clips. They can be laminated to avoid children accidently writing on the guide!

Romero Britto is a Brazilian artist who creates very colourful and patterned artworks. I have provided an example of a piece of art in his style, using my name. You could ask the class to do their names or to choose words like 'happy', 'friend', etc. Children really enjoy using as many bright colours and patterns as they can.
