Year 8: Space, mass, gravity, weight & satellites.

(48)
Powerpoint on weight, mass, gravity and satellites. User friendly animations with built in questioning and activities. Accompanying video and worksheet. Used over 2 lessons. Sorry for large file size, it's worth it. My year 8&'s now know the difference between weight and mass.

Scientific Literacy

(22)
A customisable powerpoint on scientific literacy across KS3 and KS4. This powerpoint incorporates spelling activities, short story writing and pronunciation. Use this powerpoint over a week for different classes and change the content when required. This powerpoint is hyperlinked through a menu but is not interactive. Use the activities as mini plenaries, starters, plenary, AofL.This is a cross curricular activity set and is engaging for all levels and abilities. The current information in the slides is just for demonstration and illustrative purposes.

AQA P1 (1.3) Revision Powerpoint.

(21)
My year 10's asked for a revision lesson (x2) on unit P1.3. Most sections that pupils struggle with are contained in this ppt. Humorous and engaging, plenty of activities and clearly written. There are some obvious &'mistakes&'; in some of the calculations to ascertain if pupils are understanding the work. They all said that they found it very useful and funny.

Static Electricity iGCSE Physics

Static Electricity iGCSE Physics

(5)
This is a PPT lesson with printable slides for students to use as worksheets (in groups is best). This was designed for the iGCSE Cambridge syllabus but it is relevant to all exam boards that contain static electricity topics. Build up of charges Electrons and Protons Discharge Sparks etc... Real life applications and suggestion for practicals. Balloons with polyester jumpers = attracts fine hair Balloon rubbed with jumper or silk cloth will attract small pieces of tissues paper The balloon will also 'magically' attract/repel an aluminium drinks can on it's side Use the charged balloon to bend a thin light stream of water from a tap. There is a video of lightning occurring outside my house which you can take out if you wish.
Basic Introduction To Light

Basic Introduction To Light

(2)
Year 8. An introduction to the basics of light. Content - dispersion of light through a prism, translucent, transparent and opaque. Designed for a 45 minute lesson but can be drawn out. Includes homework suggestion. The video reference in the ppt is for any youtube clip of prisms and dispersion of light.

iGCSE Physics - AND, OR, NOT Logic Gates

(3)
I found very few resources for this odd topic in iGCSE physics so i created this powerpoint for my classes. It explains the differences between the three logic gates and also when two or more are combined. There is an intro to boolean language and binary but not too much. It was used for a top set Year 11 iGCSE class but can possibly be used for lower age groups.
Shipwrecked: Pressure in Liquids + P=F/A rearranging + ANSWERS
TRF23TRF23

Shipwrecked: Pressure in Liquids + P=F/A rearranging + ANSWERS

(2)
An engaging resource for students to practice their understanding of the two pressure formulas: P=height x density x gravity and P= force/area. Students have to calculate the pressure that each animal/person is subjected to at different depths in sea water. They are given the lethal force required for each organism, using the P=f/a formula they have to work out if they survive or not. Extension activities could include - finding out the maximum depth they have to be at before they would die etc... You could ask the students to find a liquid that has a much lower density in which the organisms could survive greater depths. My students loved it and I hope your students do too. Enjoy!

This powerpoint focuses on fixed resistors and calculating resistance using the band colours as well as the the resistance formulas used in circuits. This was made for a top set year 11 iGCSE class and features on the older Cambridge iGCSE syllabus. It is still relevant for all students studying resistance (fixed and variable) in electrical circuits and systems.
