God Thinks Children are the Greatest Primary/KS2-3 Collective Worship Plan

Collective worship plan exploring what Christians believe that God thinks about children - namely that they are awesome! Uses the story of the Feeding of the Five Thousand, plus two other passages where Jesus told his disciples that they had to become like children in order to enter the Kingdom of God. Then uses 3 current examples of children who have seen injustice in the world and done something to rectify it, and in turn inspired adults to become involved. Finishes with a video from Kid President and a challenge for the children to look around them and see what great things they can do to make our world a better place. Includes Bible readings and a prayer.

Collective worship that helps children think about the role they play at home, at school and in society and encourages them to take responsibility for themselves. Uses the example of the healing of the paralysed man from Mark 2 to give an example of friends using their hands in a responsible and helpful way. Asks the children to think about their own responsibilities - i.e. chores or roles at home and school, and what happens when we shirk our responsibilities. Includes a time of reflection and a prayer.

Collective worship around the theme of what we treasure - using the parable of the rich man told by Jesus as the main story. The assembly helps the children to think about what they treasure and why those things are important to them; helping to think about what is really important in life.

Thinking about how we use our time and what it looks like to waste time. Uses the story of The Magic Thread from William Bennett's The Book of Virtues, and Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, to help the children consider how they will use the next 31,536,000 seconds of the new school year. Also links to Doctor Who and how, even though he can travel through time, he believes it's important to make every second count.

Asks pupils to consider who they are following and whether that person is the best influence, and who helps them be the best they can be. Includes a Prezi Presentation to use.

Being a Good Neighbour Worship Plan (Primary)

An assembly that encourages children to think about what it means to be a good neighbour and caring for those around them. Starts with a clip of Emporer Penguins huddling together to keep warm. This links into Jesus' famous saying of "Love God and love your neighbour as yourself". Then uses the story of Jesus healing Simon Peter's mother and a video of Katie's Krops (about 9 year old Katie Stagliano who grew a giant cabbage and donated it to a local food kitchen) to give examples of being a good neighbour. Finishes with a reflection and a prayer that challenges the children to think about why Jesus said loving God and loving others was the most important rule to live by, and how they can be a good neighbour.
