Three different codes to crack: number 1 is just finding the next term in the sequence (not all are arithmetic), number 2 is substituting into nth terms (with a simple quadratic or two) and number 3 is finding and using nth terms of arithmetic sequences. Each has a punchline to a joke to find. I use these for starters and plenaries or homeworks as they are very easy to mark. Typo on number 1 corrected.

Another installment in my US Crime drama activities series, this time using "Without A Trace" and symmetry and transformations (get it?!). Pick the shapes with the given symmetrical properties then follow the transformation instructions to find the missing person. It involves symmetry (reflective and rotational), reflection, rotation and translation.

The third installment of my US crime drama series, this time on order of operations. Weed out the criminals (who are terrible at Bidmas) by checking their answers to a question set by Lieutenant Olivia Benson. As with others the worksheets aren't necessary unless you are that way inclined. It could be used as a non-calculator or as an exercise in using the calculator properly.

D (Data) A (Algebra) N (Number) and G (Geometry) - four bombs to defuse on each area, left by that infamous terrorist "The Mathematician". Each sheet has 6 sections and the questions are more worded. Find the average of the answers in each section to crack the code to defuse the bomb in each case. It's just general revision to get students thinking. It's easier to look at than put into words!!!

The usual lame jokes and two different codebreakers. The first one is just putting the gradient and the y-intercept to y=mx+c and a little bit of simple rearranging. The second sheet gives two co-ordinates and you need to find the equation of the line.

Two sheets to discover the punchlines to two jokes. The first sheet is simple "increase/decrease", the second is worded questions including finding an original amount and finding the percentage of change.

Discover the punchline to the joke whilst testing your knowledge of polygons, mainly angle properties including interior and exterior angles.

Work out which shape is being decribed in each case and reveal the punchline to the joke.

Two more codebreakers (and associated lame jokes) on volume and surface area. Codebreaker 1 is cubes, cuboids and cyclinders; codebreaker 2 in speheres, cones and pyramids.

Four different sheets to practise solving linear equations rnaging from simple one step to two step to brackets (including variables on both sides of the "equals") to fractional parts. Designed as a quick starter, plenary or homework.

A particularly lame joke this time but various proportion questions at a GCSE level, including direct, inverse and generating proportion formulae given enough information in order to do so.

Three sheets on each; sheet 1 is basic, sheet 2 a little more complex and sheet 3 involves two brackets. Designed to be a quick plenary, starter, homework activity. They numbers equate in case you want to put them side by side.

Captain America wants some new shields made. You have to calculate the area then volume of the shields. The rare alloy, vibranium, that the shields are made from is limited so using old, broken shields you have to calculate if he has enough of the alloy; this part is sectors of circles. I have intentionally split the activity into two so that you can stop after the initial areas of circles depending on the class.

Substitute the values into the expressions and unravel the famous mathematician. Updated so the instructions are actually accurate!
