I specialise in general science resources for KS3 and KS4 and biology for KS5. I try to make my resources suitable for non-specialists and teachers new to the subject, by including answers to any questions and full step-by-step explanations. I love flashcards and try to make a set for each unit I deliver. I am in the process of upgrading these to colour coded (differentiated) sets. All newly added resources will have a remote-learning version too (just in case :-))

This is a single lesson on ‘How to tackle long answer questions in science’ Produced for KS3 it is also suitable for KS4 lower sets. We have produced 5 sets of 4 lessons for year 7 and year 8 which we deliver in 5 ‘skills weeks’ throughout the year. I will make these lessons availably singly, in sets of 4 and as whole year sets as they become available. This is year 8 - skills week 1, lesson 1 The lessons can of course be taught in any order and as stand alone lessons. Any exam questions mentioned in the presentations are not my own, and are included for your convenience only. Suitable for delivery by specialists and non-specialists. I am a non specialist, and I really struggled with SHC. I needed to plan my own lesson from the text book and break it down into simple steps. This lesson is all of the information on specific heat capacity in the AQA text book, building from first principles. All of the questions asked in the powerpoint have the answers on the next slide. It worked a treat with my high ability year 9s as a theory lesson prior to completing the required practical.

There are also rounds on general knowledge of events this year and a picture round. The quiz lasts around 30 minutes at a relaxed pace - suitable for either individuals or teams.

I have created sets of flashcards which cover most of the AQA Biology content . Print double sided (flip on long edge) so that answers appear on the back On the homeostasis pack and ecology pack I have highlighted the separate science content, so you can take these out of the packs you give to combined students, as these units are separate science heavy. I have also colour coded the individual packs, so students can learn the easier content first (blue questions), then learn the mid-difficulty questions (green) then the most difficult content (red). You may want to target only the blue and green questions at your foundation students.
