I share original PowerPoints, worksheets and SEN/EAL booklets that I created while training to become a Science Teacher. I have continued to use these resources successfully during my 3 year teaching career. My resources include a full lesson plan in the description (40-50 minutes) to guide other trainees and PGCE students. I received an Outstanding grade at the end of both placements, where I used these resources. Resources are for KS3 Science, PSCHE, GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics, A Leve

Reactivity Series and Group 7 Displacement Reactions - KS3 Chemistry "Couples" Animation

(0)
Animation / short lesson which should be used to introduce the Reactivity Series or Group 7 Displacement Reactions. Suitable for KS3 (Year 8 or 9) Chemistry, but also an ideal recap activity for GCSE Chemistry students. Contains amusing “couples” animations in the format of a live quiz to be used as a classroom activity (20 minutes max), where students predict what will happen to the “couple” in the compound. Lesson plan Students copy out Group 7 in their book with most and least reactive labeled (5 minutes) Teacher presents first slide (showing the salt and halogen plus the addition of a new halogen e.g NaI + F2) Students write out the equation and write down the product they predict Teacher shows next slide with answer Contains 4 examples total (max 20 minute lesson)

Conservation of Mass and Chemical Equations - Year 8 / KS3 Chemistry

(0)
Lesson 1 - Chemical equations containing introduction to balancing equations and naming formulae Lesson 2 - Conversation of Mass containing animations/illustrations using see-saw example You can merge the lessons together if you have a double lesson or lesson longer than 50 minutes. Suitable for Year 8 / KS3 Chemistry Lesson plan - merging Lesson 1 and 2 Starter - Using the periodic table for the first time to identify chemical symbols for elements (5 - 10 minutes) Main - Introduction to balancing equations with see-saw animation, periodic table diagram explaining how charges work, results table for lead nitrate/potassium iodide demonstration, conservation of mass questions (in grams), balancing equation GCSE style questions (20 - 40 minutes) Plenary - Bingo 3x3 square in books - students write down chemical symbols, teacher reads out the word formula/common name and students must identify which symbol it correlates with (10 minutes)
