Newton's Second Law: Acceleration

(0)
Newton’s Second Law: Acceleration This Newton’s laws of motion product includes a complete set of teaching and learning materials for analyzing the motion and determining the acceleration of objects in different situations using Newton’s second law. In addition to drawing free body diagrams, your students will learn how to calculate the magnitude of the force of gravity, the normal force, the applied force and the force of friction. Students will also be introduced to the concept of the coefficient of friction and its effect on the acceleration of an object. This product contains everything you need: presentations for Newton’s three laws of motion with example problems for calculating acceleration using Newton’s second law of motion; four sets of practice exercises where your students will analyze the motion of objects using free body diagrams to calculate the forces acting on an object, the coefficient of friction and acceleration; a complete in depth set of notes covering all three of Newton’s laws of motion; and answer keys for all exercises. At the top of the notes and each set of exercises there is a link to videos from my Step by Step Science YouTube channel. The videos provide detailed descriptions and additional examples that correspond to the problems on the exercise sheets. This is a great resource for distance learners or students who are not able to be in class for this lesson. All exercises and presentations are provided in PDF and fully editable formats. If your students are not yet familiar with free body diagrams, consider my companion product on this topic. Contents: (1) Three pages of notes providing an in depth explanation of Newton’s laws of motion. (2) Four separate sets of exercises for calculating acceleration using Newton’s second law of motion. A total of nine pages. (3) Answer keys for all exercises. (4) Presentations with example problems in Keynote and PowerPoint. (5) PDF files for all the documents. Newton's Second Law: Free Body Diagrams

(0)
Just starting out with Newton’s second law of motion? Don’t want to scare your students off with the equations and calculations? Then this is the perfect product for you. Using this product from my Tes shop your students will gain a strong conceptual understanding of how to apply Newton’s second law to many different situations. This is an important step for students to master before moving on to quantitative analysis of the motion of objects. Free body diagrams show the relative magnitude and direction of all the forces acting on an object. The number of forces shown on a free body diagram depends on the specific problem and the assumptions made; air resistance is commonly ignored to simplify the problem. If the forces acting on an object are balanced, then the object is not accelerating and is therefore either moving with a constant velocity or at rest. If the forces acting on an object are unbalanced, then the object is accelerating. At the top of each set of exercises there is a link to videos from my Step by Step Science YouTube channel. The videos provide detailed descriptions and additional examples that correspond to the problems on the exercise sheets. This is a great resource for distance learners or students who are not able to be in class for this lesson. All exercises and presentations are provided in PDF and fully editable formats. Contents: (1) Handout notes. (2) Three sets of free body diagram exercises. (3) Answer keys for all exercises. (4) Presentation in Keynote and PowerPoint. (5) PDF files for all the documents. (6) Editable Pages files for all the exercises.
