My other wish is that they save you some time – we all know how hard teachers work and if these resource help you get some ‘you time’ back, then they have done their job. I hope they are useful to you.

Maths Mastery. Want your children to be Math Masters? These posters are sure to help you and your children on that journey! 6 posters, 5 objectives for a Math Master. I have used these posters as a permanent display on the side of my Math board. We refer to them in most lessons either as a part of the main learning or as a challenge or extension at the end of a learning task. After a while, I have found that some children refer to them independently and extend their learning without guidance from me. They have helped develop both Math Masters and independent learners over the years! There are double the amount of poster that you will need here – one half are for ‘Math Masters’, the other for ‘Maths Masters’ depending on where you are in the World. Please be mindful of our planet and only print what you need. Enjoy!

Report Writing Children's Questionnaire

(0)
Make your report writing a tad quicker and easier with these questionnaires. Report writing takes us all so much time! These questionnaires are designed to take some of the pressure off. Give these to your class and let them tell you what they have enjoyed the most, found most interesting or what they are the most proud of. This is a great way for you to get that all important child’s voice into your reports. Being able to write sentences such as: “Lila has been especially proud of her progress in fractions this year.” “Fredrick was particularly proud of the Tudor Portrait he painted in Art.” “Harry’s has shown a flair in Science this year - he found our unit on All Living Things especially interesting.” shows that you know your children well and includes their voice in your report. I hope you find these helpful and they save you time. Uploaded in Word in case you want to edit to suit you Any reviews or feedback is welcome to help me create and upload content that you will find useful.

Fourteen blank templates to support children in laying out column addition and subtraction. There are templates for both the** expanded method and the short method**. Templates for the expanded method are colour coded to help children with where each of the totals need to be placed when they add the hundreds, tens and ones. Of course, these can be printed in black and white if you don’t need this for your teaching. There are a variety of sheets depending on how many digits you are adding or subtracting and how many digits will appear in the answer. In my classroom, I have a little stash of these that we use when we are doing addition and subtraction. It has always been helpful for younger children or those who find the lay out tricky to do independently. I hope these are useful and save you time!

Fraction Worded Problems Lesson - Year 4 - Maths Mastery

(0)
Year 4 expected worded fraction lesson. Maths mastery through visualisation, bar modelling and variation. ** SATS revision lesson** - Although a ‘Year 4 expected lesson’ the targetted questions have been taken from past SATS papers. This lesson leads to answering 3 questions taken from Year 4 expected examples from Testbase. For example: ‘My Granny lives 120km away from us. We are driving to see her and are 5/6 of the way there. How far have we driven so far?’ The lesson uses Bar Modelling and Variation (both from Shanghai / Singapore Maths as a part of Maths Mastery) to build children’s skills so they have the tools they need to answer these types of questions independently. CAN BE USED AS SATS REVISION It is presented as one lesson but depending on how long your lesson is, how quickly your children understand the learning and compete the work it may need 2 sessions. It looks at worded problems as short stories and models clearly how to draw bar models from the questions to support answering questions. I have uploaded the lessons and sheets as powerpoints which are easy to adapt if you would like to. There is one powerpoint with the lesson on. The other powerpoint is printables of the bar models for the practise section, the independent activity both as worded questions and as worded questions with bar models to be annotated. There is also challenge activity. I hope this lesson is useful, helps your children learn and saves you some time. This is the first lesson I have uploaded so any feedback would be helpful to me moving forwards. Thank you!

Problem solving with fractions. Visualisation. Variation. Bar modelling. SATS revision Year 6 ‘Expected Level’ question taken from Testbase: ‘4/5 of the runners in a race have finished the race so far. 92 people have finished. There are examples to show the class, practise questions the class can all do together which leads into a differentiated independent task and then a challenge. The lesson uses Bar Modelling and Variation (both from Shanghai / Singapore Maths as a part of Maths Mastery) to build children’s skills so they have the tools they need to answer these types of questions independently. I have found this style of lesson really useful in the past as it hones in on one question style giving the children the chance to master their skills so they have a greater depth of knowledge. Once children have mastered this and built confidence they can they apply it to other areas of problem solving. I have uploaded the lessons and sheets as powerpoints which are easy to adapt if you would like to. There is one powerpoint with the lesson on. The other powerpoint is printables of the bar models for the practise section, the independent activity both as worded questions and as worded questions with bar models to be annotated. Fraction, Decimal and Percentage Posters

Fraction, Decimal and Percentage Posters

(0)
These posters offer an excellent, clear visual display of the relationship between decimals, fractions and percentages. Each of the values are represented in a number of different ways for children to see and understand. A huge part of Maths Mastery is to be able to represent concepts in different ways and making links between different areas of Maths to show deeper understanding and these posters are a perfect example of that. I have these posters displayed year-round above my Maths board for children to refer to both when we are learning about decimals, fractions and percentages, but also as an example of showing the same concept in different ways to support them becoming Maths Masters! There are some options when printing – some poster are identical other than the wording of ‘fourth ‘ and ‘quarter’ so you can choose which you’d like depending on where you are in the World.
