Have students who struggle to start their research assignments? Need students to show evidence of their research? Don’t have the time to create your own scaffolding? This resource is for you! A great resource (that will suite any length of time set) to get learners to demonstrate their ability to plan and prepare for a research assignment. Includes steps to encourage and support students to: -Begin the inquiry and identify previous knowledge -Develop a hypothesis (tentative, revised and final) -Define relevant key words -Devise sub-questions and then locate and record relevant information -Synthase and plan through to reviewing and editing their draft Accessible to middle school students, differentiated by the 3 levels of critical reflection and source evaluation questions. The KWLH Technique is just one of many graphic organizers that help students organize their thinking for decision-making, problem solving and reflecting. It’s a great method to activate prior knowledge and to help students organize information for learning and in the case of this resource improving their results. This resource has the added benefit of being a great tool to provide evidence for a student’s reflections on their work. I enjoy showing it to parents/ guardians as it helps them understand how they can better support their student at home.
