Psychology of Relationships - Matching Hypothesis Experiment

(0)
This is a complete activity for testing Matching Hypothesis. It is a chance for students to take the lead on some actual psychological research and better understand the ideas behind matching hypothesis. In groups students must choose and experimenter. They ask everyone else to rate the attractiveness of the photos on the 'Photo Rating Survey' and record this in the table on the 'Rating Tables' sheet. A score of 1-10 should be agreed in the group. Using simply maths of averages the experimenter then calculates if the 'real couples' are more or less closely rated on attractiveness than the 'posed couples'. The calculation is explained at the end of the 'Rating Tables' sheet.
Psychological Debates Rating Scales

Psychological Debates Rating Scales

(0)
A quick revision activity asking students to place each of the core studies along a scale for each debate. I extend this by getting them to justify their answers and have a class discussion where students may have come to different conclusions. Finally we use this to build exam style answers
Sperry Procedure and Results Table

Sperry Procedure and Results Table

(0)
Students can often become confused by some of the Sperry findings, using this table alongside teaching the methodology allows students to breakdown the procedure, using their knowledge predict findings and compare this to the actual findings from Sperry. Comparing the predictions of students to the actual findings also gives teachers a chance to assess how well students understand the background and procedure of the study

Recap on Basic Statistical Calculations

(0)
An activity sheet looking at Measures of Dispersion etc. A useful activity for A-Level Psychology students who need to recap some of their GCSE Maths. Students can usually work in groups and complete the sheet with little intervention, but this also highlights any areas that will need revisiting as a class
