I have found these work a treat for my classes and prevent a lot of discipline problems. For example my Yr 10 class have gone from difficult to engage and a lot of work to manage to a fantastic class by using these at the beginning of each lesson- they love it! Those relating to ads and songs will fall 'out of date' after a few months so I hope that my sharing sees them put to good use before they expire.

It has been designed as a brief end of course extra topic for Year 11 History in the event that the course is finished before the end of Year Term 3 Year 11 given that students are not permitted to commence the Year 12 course until Term 4. Designed for Stage 4 Geography as a practical Geography skills activity group work task. Students research and draw on knowledge of local geography localised to either their town, school or Australia and use this information to create a personalised and localised version of Monopoly. This works well as an end of year activity. The template is hand-drawn, so it's not fantastic, but it should be useable.

I recommend doing American Civil Rights before Australian Aboriginal Rights in this unit because they in many ways inspired the Civil Rights Movement in Australia and doing the US first helps to provide a broader context.

This would work best if complemented by teacher explication of the reasons for the 'fall' of Rome, Constantine's relocation to Constantinople and where future topics (e.g. Vikings and Shoguns) to be studied fit into the chronology. It also includes a modified version of the task that has adaptations designed specifically for a student with difficulty writing and moving due to cerebral palsy.

Designed for my Year 10 History class but it would be suitable for other high school year groups and other subjects than history (e.g. Science, Geography and English). The idea with this is to get students to engage with topic information in textbooks or other sources and then turn this into a structured lesson. These work a treat in getting disengaged students listen and work well as a classroom management tool..very worthwhile in using a few minutes of each lesson for these in my experience as the rest of the lesson goes much more smoothly and learning time is more effective.
