An introductory lesson into the lives of the Plains Indians. Students will analyse the lifestyles of the Apache, Cheyenne and Lakota Sioux and complete a Venn diagram highlighting similarities and differences. Students will then investigate the Lakota Sioux as a focused Case Study: Home & Family, Leadership, Warfare and Beliefs are the aspects of Lakota Sioux life that the students will be made aware of. This is a great resource to use to begin looking at the American West; both at KS3 as a taster lesson or KS4 as the start of the GCSE curriculum.

History lesson on the decline of the Egyptian Empire and the rise of the Greek Empire. Students will discover the reason for the decline in Egyptian influence, look at the geography of both Egypt and Greece and discuss how this close link could impact on each Empire. Students will then investigate Greece’s most famous leader, Alexander the Great. Students will complete a comprehension task on the life of Alexander the Great.

History lesson on Ancient Greek medicine. Students will begin by discussing health in Ancient Egypt; recapping on the progress made as well as the aspects of Egyptian medicine that held back progress. Students will then be presented with an ‘information explosion’ with limited instructions and lots of information on each table. Students will then complete a research worksheet on each of the pieces of information. Students are to then complete an answer to the question ‘How effective was Greek medicine’ using the differentiated help sheets.

A KS4 AQA History lesson based on the naval interactions during the First World War. Students will investigate the Battle of Jutland, the sinking of the Lusitania, submarine warfare and the naval blockade of Germany. Students have some GCSE question, general questions and sources to analyze.

A KS4 AQA History lesson centred on Russia leaving the war in 1917. Students will investigate life during the First World War under the Tsar’s leadership and how the war eroded confidence in him. The two revolutions are covered as well as the abdication of the Tsar. Russia’s signing of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk draws an end to it’s involvement in the First World War. Students will be exposed to sources and exam style questions.

KS3 History lesson which usually takes 2 hours to complete. Students are first introduced to Winston Churchill’s early life and political career during the First and Second World Wars. Students then go on to see Churchill’s impact post-war and the legacy that he left behind using source analysis to assist in this. Questions evaluating Churchill’s significance are present within the lesson.

A KS4 AQA History lesson on British foreign policy before the First World War. Students learn about Britain’s place in the world and how Britain had pursued a isolationist policy previously due to its empire. Changes to this policy are discussed with the use of sources and exam style questions.

A KS4 AQA History lesson looking at the alliance system in Europe prior to the outbreak of the First World War. The lesson catalogues the signing of treaties from 1879 to 1907 to explain the formation of the Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance. The aggression of Germany and it’s Kaiser is also looked at before source analysis and exam question practice.

A KS4 AQA History lesson on the problems in the Balkans before the First World War. Students will look at the crumbling Ottoman Empire, the Balkan Crisis and resulting Balkan Wars. This lesson will take 2 hours to complete with sources to analyze and exam questions to answer.

A KS3 History lesson looking at life in Britain in the 2000s. Transport, entertainment and technology are focused upon as students investigate life post-war and what it was like for the average person in Britain. Students are given a number of tasks to complete at the end of the lesson.

A KS3 History lesson about the causes of the sinking of the Titanic. Students are given evidence about the Titanic and those involved in the maiden voyage and disaster. Students are then tasked with coming to their own conclusion on why the Titanic sank and who/what is to blame.

A KS3 History lesson looking at poverty in Britain at the start of the 20th century. Students are exposed to the disparity of lifestyles within the country and the problems faced by the poorest of people. Students then see some liberal reforms (children’s charter, free school meals, etc.) and assess the impact of these on the people of Britain. Questions and sources are presented to students throughout the lesson.

A KS3 History lesson based on the suffragette Emily Davison and the events surrounding her death. Students are given a series of sources to read through and decide whether the event was a purposeful act of martyrdom or a tragic accent. Students are tasked with creating a report detailing their opinion on the matter.

A lesson on the weapons used within the First World War. Artillery, machine guns, grenades, aircraft, rifles all mentioned amongst other things. Best way to teach this lesson is a carousel/information hunt where you print off the weapons and the students discover their impact on life in the trenches.

A lesson focusing on the long and short term causes of the First World War. Nationalism, Militarism, Imperialism and Alliances are looked at before turning attention to the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Ideal for KS3 (Years 7 to 9) as an introduction to the First World War as it sets the scene nicely. There are a number of written tasks included with the information.

An AQA GCSE Psychology lesson centred on Dweck’s idea of fixed and growth mindsets. Students will be presented with real-life examples of the fixed and growth mindsets alongside the psychological definitions of both. Students will also look at how the theory can be interpreted whether it be how people approach challenges or how some people may fall somewhere between fixed and growth upon a mindset ‘scale’, Exam style questions are presented throughout the lesson. This lesson can be given as independent work and does not have to be teacher led.

KS3 & KS4 PSHE lesson on the topic of the Black Lives Matter movement. This lesson features the recent coverage of the protests carried out across Britain in the name of the Black Lives Matter movement. Students will watch videos, analyse photographs and participate in class discussion about the protests. This lesson is to encourage students to be a part of the solution and stand united with black people across the world, regardless of the students’ own heritage. This lesson is also online friendly so can be set as work for students who are remotely learning; instructions are clear and information is clearly signposted.

Basic KS3/4 Geography lesson introducing a new scheme of work on India. Students will be given classroom expectations to begin before heading into a starter activity about the growing population within India. Students will then watch a video (link in the notes) about the geographical location of India and complete a description using the prompts on the board. Students are then asked to complete a definition for the key words on the board before watching another video (another link in the notes) and completing a description of the physical geography of India. Homework is also provided on the last slide.

PSHE lesson designed for Year 7 students surrounding the topic of Strengths & Skills. Students will be put into groups and asked to complete tasks which aim to challenge skills and showcase their strengths. Students will complete word searches, sudoku puzzles, Maths treasure hunt, a Geography crossword, Blindfold drawing task & learning the first 10 numbers in Japanese. Students love the challenge and be sure to reward the team that acquires the most points; a bag of Haribos tends to go down well.
