A student friendly lesson powerpoint based on Fibre Optics. A selection of activities (starter, main, plenary) and leveled learning objectives. The content will help students understand the wider topic of the development of new technologies. Based on the Engineering Unit 1 specification but is versatile and be used in Design Technology and other STEM lessons. Attached are two photographs which show a simple but effective way to demonstrate fibre optics. Using a torch and a piece of clear Acrylic tube it can show how ‘light’ travels through the wire. This can used when showing the Polar Bear hair slide.

Unit 1 Introduction to the Built Environment: AC 1.1 The Sector Teacher/ Student tracker for Unit 1 that students’ can Red, Amber, Green their understanding. All assessment criteria covered in detail and links directly to each lesson in the teaching powerpoints. It is clear and easy to see and can be stuck in student books, displayed on the board, or shown to parents. My aim is to create a whole resource package for the new specification as there currently are not any resources online. An excellent powerpoint for starting the new Level 1/2 Construction and built environment specification for teaching from 2022 Unit 1 Introduction to the Built Environment: AC 1.1 The Sector Lesson by lesson teaching powerpoints with levelled learning objectives and student tasks incoorperated. Tasks can be printed directly out from powerpoint and given to students- there is a mixture of learning opportunities and room for adapting tasks to higher or lower students. Each lesson has a starter and a plenary. This resource will drastically reduce your planning time I have included useful links in the notes of the powerpoint for more information into different topics This resource is one of the 8 Assessment Criteria for Unit 1. A good starter/ group activity with key structure related words and questions provided. You can rig it so a certain group wins or make up different questions. Students could make up questions as a flipped learning activity I have made several different grids that can be printed and laminated so used multiple times and a set of example questions.
