GCSE English Enrichment! Early Modern English: An Analysis of The King James Bible.

GCSE English Enrichment! Early Modern English: An Analysis of The King James Bible.

(0)
A concise unit (1-2 lessons) which explores the evolution and development of the English Language from its early modern stages through to the modern day. Focussing on an extract from the King James Bible, as well as recalling pupils existing understanding of Shakespeare's use of language during the same early-modern period, this unit allows pupils to explore and identify the use of the English Language during this stage in its development. The apt historical timing of these two famous uses of the English Language, which encapsulate it as it was within this crucial developmental period, is used to challenge pupils to draw comparisons between the language of the King James Bible and Shakespeare's plays as well as considering how and why the language has continued to develop into the modern day. Furthermore, extension opportunities encourage pupils to consider the continuing influences of technology (such as social media) on the development of the English Language and to form an opinion about these developments. https://www.facebook.com/createdlive/ https://twitter.com/creatEDlive
