Our resources are rooted in Assessment for Learning strategies, and usually include forms of differentiation. These questions also help students practice developing explanations of meaning in relation to evidence,and encourages them to experiment with analysing the range of effects of language and structure devices used by the writer. The pack also contains an assessment pie to help students understand what they must do to be successful in their responses to Literature in KS5. It is an exploded and visual success criteria designed to help students conduct structured peer assessment, and allows detailed teacher feedback too. This pie can also be used with upper ability KS4 students.

Moreover, the pack includes an AFL pie (an exploded, visual success criteria for teacher feedback and structured peer assessment), an example PEEAL paragraph for students to mark with the pie and notes on how to layout an effective response to poetry. It contains annotations of poems, and a collection of question banks for most of the poems contained in the IGCSE Cambridge International Literature Poetry anthology. These questions can be used for revision, or after the students have undertaken their first reading of a poem. The questions are designed to help students explore the meanings of the poems (A01 and A02), the effects of the poets’ use of language and the effects of their use of structure (A03). The poems also encourage students to develop a personal opinion in relations to the attitude conveyed in each poem (A04).

Written by a Cambridge International Assessment Examiner, Consultant and Teacher Trainer, this pack of resources includes AFL pies that help develop a dialogue between students and teacher about what students must do to be successful. The pies act as a form of success criteria, but are linked to the Key Feature display sheets (i.e. the skills that the students must demonstrate in their writing to be successful when writing to different purposes and audiences). The Pies can be used for structured peer assessment activities and/ or as a way of the teacher providing feedback to students.
