French chopped up sentences about school day

French chopped up sentences about school day

(0)
A worksheet with a list of sentences about the school day. The sentences have been chopped up and jumbled so pupils must match them up again to make sense. I would cut up the right hand side so pupils can move the pieces around. Pupils can also translate the sentences into English, or they could adapt the sentences and add more details, to write about their own school day.

KS3 French: Holidays

13 Resources
A set of tasks and activities, mostly worksheets, on the theme of holidays. They cover names of countries, different tenses, accommodation and weather. There are some reading or writing tasks which cover the topic more broadly. Most of these resources are suitable for cover work: worksheets with full instructions and answers provided (on a separate page). Buying the bundle represents a significant saving compared to buying the resources separately.

Match countries and capital cities in French

(1)
A list of 20 countries, mainly European, written in French. Pupils guess then check (with a dictionary/online) what the countries are in English, then match to their capital cities. Makes a good homework or team quiz, as time is needed for pupils to research - unless they have faultless knowledge of capital cities! Answers included on page 2 of document. Could be extended by asking pupils to suggest more countries & cities, or to name rivers/mountains/other cities, or nationalities.
quick German perfect tense starter task
jac42jac42

quick German perfect tense starter task

(0)
Pupils complete the sentences with the correct past participle in German. They translate the sentences into English. This could be a written activity, or speaking and listening. You could make it more challenging by asking pupils to add more details or to change the subject to a different person. Could also play “I went to market” game, if you only reveal one sentence at a time and hide the previous ones. Answers provided on second page of doc. Task is printed twice on page one, for quick photocopying if necessary.
French conversation questions about holidays

French conversation questions about holidays

(2)
A set of 10 questions about holidays, colour-coded for past/present/future. Pupils can use as practice for a speaking test: they could write and then say their own answers, ask a partner, use as a group listening task, or ask you the questions and note your answers.
German comparative task
jac42jac42

German comparative task

(1)
A simple task to help pupils practice using the comparative in German. I have used this for a homework task. Suggested answers included on page 2 of the document. Pupils build sentences around the words supplied, e.g. Rom - Moskau - warm becomes Rom ist wärmer als Moskau.
French worksheet to practise irregular verbs
jac42jac42

French worksheet to practise irregular verbs

(0)
A worksheet with several tasks to practise the present tense of faire, aller, lire and sortir. Starting with a task to complete the English for the conjugations, then a sentence gapfill exercise and finally a more open-ended writing task.
French sentences about school day
jac42jac42

French sentences about school day

(0)
A set of short sentences in French about the school day, using regular -er verbs. All spaces and punctuation have been removed, so pupils have to re-write the sentences accurately. You could then ask pupils to extend the sentences, e.g. with times, opinions or other details.

jac42jac42

Dominoes of first set of y7 French vocab

(0)
A photo-copiable set of 32 dominoes with French and English vocab to match up, including numbers, greetings and classroom items. Cut up along the lines as shown to make a set which works well in small groups.
French starter activity about the weather
jac42jac42

French starter activity about the weather

(0)
A grid suggesting a sentence structure to describe the weather in French in the different seasons, in your part of the country. This version encourages pupils to include adverbs of frequency and connectives to extend their sentences. Could use as a true/false activity, or I went to market -style task.
French GCSE translation and role play practice worksheet
jac42jac42

French GCSE translation and role play practice worksheet

(0)
A long list (41!) of short sentences in English for pupils to translate into French. Equally you could switch the instructions and ask pupils to translate the other way. Sentences are mostly transactional speech, the kinds of phrases needed in a role play. Answers are provided but jumbled up - this could also be used as a reading matching task, or as speaking/listening pairwork.
Simple matching sheets with 2D shapes and pictures of marbles
jac42jac42

Simple matching sheets with 2D shapes and pictures of marbles

(0)
A cutting and sticking activity for pupils to practice matching pairs of 2D shapes or different sized sets of marbles. Each sheet has a set of six pictures to cut out, then pupils stick these pictures next to each corresponding picture above. You can easily adapt these sheets to make them harder by making the pictures more similar. Alternatively make them easier by removing one row or column of pictures. Simple uncluttered design makes these suitable for children with autism.
set of simple number lines tasks
jac42jac42

set of simple number lines tasks

(0)
A set of tasks suitable for pupils beginning to understand how a number line works. One task shows a 0-20 number line and has space to write a number sentence below (addition, but can be adapted for subtraction). This task is worth laminating and then can be used over and over with a whiteboard pen. The other two tasks require pupils to cut out boxes containing shapes, then stick them to the correct place on the number line (0-10). The easier version has arrows to help; the harder version has just a choice of empty boxes. These two sheets have two different questions on each sheet.
Simple counting task using spots on ladybirds
jac42jac42

Simple counting task using spots on ladybirds

(0)
An activity for pupils to practise counting items to two and three, easily adapted for other numbers if you choose. Pupils put the correct number of spots on the ladybird pictures: they can either stick stickers, draw spots, use stampers, or whatever you choose. The sheet has six pictures for the number 2 and a further six for the number 3. It could be laminated and used with a whiteboard pen over and over. Simple uncluttered design makes this suitable for children with autism.
Set of French questions on personal information
jac42jac42

Set of French questions on personal information

(0)
Suitable for beginners in French, a set of questions to elicit personal information. This is the second set, which build on the first set I have also published. A slightly different format, there are 2 versions on this sheet: the French questions with the English translations shown and a second page with the English jumbled for a matching activity.
French simple interview activity
jac42jac42

French simple interview activity

(0)
Suitable for French beginners, a sheet which supports a simple interview in pairwork. Pupils ask each other questions & note the answers. This sheet contains 2 versions: the first is for more independent workers and has an extension task to write up what they have found. The second contains more support with structured questions and answers. Both versions have slightly different questions, so feel free to choose which you prefer and adapt to suit your purpose.
