I created this resource after an assessment type question on the use of maybe and may be confused several of my students. It gives an explanation and an example for both maybe and may be before asking the students to underline the correct use of the word in a sentence.

Based on the theme of mini-beasts, the student improves a simple sentence by asking questions - Who? What? When? Where? Why? They are also encouraged to add adjectives and adverbs.

An activity to support children learn words from a given spelling list

A spelling activity based which uses a variety of strategies to learn spellings which can be used with any word list.

The children sort the given words into the appropriate columns - double the final letter, drop the final e or do nothing. I have used high frequency words but the templates be used to substitute other spellings.

An activity that supports students in understanding the change y into i rules and when to use it. I have used this activity with students who are not confident spellers. It has also been a useful tool for revising the vowels.

This activity includes facts about mammoths to support the students in writing about mammoths. (An opportunity to research mammoths will further support them). They are given a choice of writing a story or a report. They are encouraged to edit their writing focusing on using varied sentence starters.

A writing prompt that includes a useful editing strategy for students to develop their writing skills.

The writing prompt gives the student the option of writing a story about their flying shoes or creating an advert to promote their flying shoes. Some of my students actually completed both activities.

This activity focuses on the tour of Dippy the Diplodocus, the famous Natural History Museum dinosaur. The students use their persuasive writing techniques to create a poster promoting the tour and to write a letter to the natural Museum persuading them to let Dippy visit their home town.

A visual prompt to support students to type quicker and more effectively using both hands and all their fingers. I have used this successfully with the individual students that I teach. In fact, my husband saw a copy of this resource and wanted a copy for himself so that he can improve his typing.

I created this activity for an individual student to complete using their weekly spelling. The student enjoyed the activity as it was a way of learning the words in a more enjoyable, focused way then just copying them out. A framework to support students in writing a character description of Romeo and Juliet. I designed this activity for an individual student to support them in making notes and organising their thoughts and ideas about the characters. The framework could be adapted for any fictional character.

An Spring ? Easter themed spelling activity. The student writes a spelling in an egg and decorates each. the activity can be used with any spelling list.

I created the splat activity resource for a student who was having difficulty in knowing when to use ou and ow in spellings. The activity itself can be easily adapted to other spellings and I first came across it as a game for teaching the multiplication tables. The second activity I created to revise magic e spellings with an older student, using the National Curriculum KS2 spelling list to identify words that use magic e. The activity can be used with any spelling list or text. It could also be sued as an independent individual or group learning activity.

An activity to support students in spelling past tense verbs (both regular and irregular). This activity enables the student to practice spelling rules such as change the y into I and add ed and when to double a consonant before adding ed.
