These multi -step word problems are designed to support students in gaining confidence in their abilities to solve problems using all four operations. The word problems also involve money and finding 10%.

An activity that I created for a reluctant writer as part of their World War Two Evacuees learning. It can be used with confident writers too. The task is to choose 12 items to pack in their suitcase and to explain their choices.

A short maths assessment focusing on place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, multiplication tables, finding 50% and 1 tenth. I have created this to help me quickly assess the understanding and confidence of individual students. There is no time limit and I emphasise that it is ok not to know or understand any of the questions as they are the areas that we will focus the learning on.

The aim of this game is to get three in a line, much like the traditional noughts and crosses game. The difference is that the grid has multiplication sums which must be answered correctly so that the player to mark that square as theirs, either with a x or a o. The grid focuses on the 7x table, however, the the blank grid can be used to add your own multiplication sums so that you can practise your target multiplication table or tables.

This netball theme spelling activity was designed for a student (year 5) who plays netball and was thrilled by the GB team’s gold at the Commonwealth Games.

For this activity the student is required to complete the sentences using words in the text box. i created for an individual student but he activity could be used as a guided reading activity.

This activity was created to support a student with the spellings using both the hard and soft g.

A fun activity to support students in knowing and quickly recalling the number bonds to 10 and 20. The activity also includes a template so you can use the triangles to make any number you wish. I have sued this activity with KS2 students who are not confident mathematicians.

An activity to support students in learning the vocabulary of averages ; mean, mode, median, range through a data handling activity.

I have used this activity to encourage the individual students that I tutor to use descriptive language in their writing. The frame asks the student to write a simile for snowflakes which they can then use to create a metaphor. I found that the activity supports the student in understanding and using both similes and metaphors. Once the poem frame is completed the student selects the best similes and metaphors to create their own poem. The activity includes examples of similes and the corresponding metaphor. T his activity can be completed as an independent and group activity.

Two multiplication grids for students who are confident with their multiplication tables. one grid includes multiplication of decimals and the other uses all the multiplication tables from 11 to 20. An answer grid is supplied for both charts so that students may self mark.

Students complete the stars by writing the answer next to the star's 'points.' The activity includes a blank sheet of stars so that the activity can be designed to meet an individual's needs. Ideal for students who are not so confident with their multiplication tables.

Photocopy, cut and laminate the fractions so that the student can explore and create equivalent fractions. One sheet is blank so that the student can shade in the fraction as required. I have used this resource to support students when they first begin to simplify fractions.

I created this activity to support a student with recognising and understanding square and prime numbers; it encourages the student to reflect on their learning and to explain their reasoning with me.  It has proven to be popular with other students too.  The colouring is beneficial to the development of fine motor skills.  The student can also cut out the completed tree which in turn can be used as part of a display.  I have also included a tree template so that you can design your own tree puzzle. My students also like to use the tree template to design their own puzzles too.

I created this resource for individual students who were not confident with the 12 times table. This colour by number activity has proven a popular way to practise and become familiar with the 12 times table and could be used for individual or group learning. There is also a template so that you or the students can designed their own puzzle using a specific times table.

I created this resource after an assessment type question on the use of maybe and may be confused several of my students. It gives an explanation and an example for both maybe and may be before asking the students to underline the correct use of the word in a sentence.

Based on the theme of mini-beasts, the student improves a simple sentence by asking questions - Who? What? When? Where? Why? They are also encouraged to add adjectives and adverbs.

A planning frame to help students organise their story. it reminds them to use their sense when writing about settings and to think about FAST (feelings, actions, speech and thoughts) when describing a character.

This resources encourages independent writers to research a monster and to chose one of two activities to complete (or both).
