Some lessons (PPTs) and resources that I use to teach Stone Cold to KS3 groups. Not all of the resources are originally mine, but I did make all of the PPTs. Apologies for any errors you may find -- I don't catch all my mistakes!

These resources were created as part of the new BTEC Creative Digital Media (Jan 2013) course. The resources here are the first half of the mandatory unit on Digital Media Sectors and Audiences. Final assessment takes the form of an external exam, which is new to the course.

Resoureces I've adapted and created as part of an introductory Media Studies unit.

A large resource containing a scheme of work for conflict / war poetry. It has powerpoint lesson presentations and student activities. Includes reading assessment and creative assessment.

The lessons here are part of an introductory unit to the new Eduqas GCSE English Language course. Most of the lessons are based on material found within the WJEC Eduqas GCSE Book 1 English Language. They are meant to compliment the text and guidance given by Eduqas.

Powerpoint Presentations to aid in teaching Macbeth to GCSE students. Complete lessons introducing themes and analysis of the play. Please feel free to use and adapt. Unfortunately I created them using Windows 7, so the powerpoints may not be accessable to all. If you'd like to see them, do send me a message and I can convert and e-mail.

The first 8 lessons for a unit on Private Peaceful. I found the SOW online,adapted it slightly, and created PPTs to accompany the scheme, so I cannot take full credit for each individual lesson. It worked quite well with my top set year 8 group, and they really enjoyed our study of the novel. Final assessment for my group was a Speaking and Listening task, but it could easily be adapted to include a writing assessment, or you could create your own.

A complete scheme of work for 11-14 year olds with ready to use adaptable lesson plan presentations studying The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - Holocaust novel. Adapted from a scheme of work online, and can be further adapted if you wish. Assessment at the end of the unit is included.

A scheme of work with complete set of Powerpoint Lessons for 'Holes&' novel. Build students&'; ability to use quotations in their writing, using PEE. The assessment task requires students to use Chapter 30 of the novel to explain how Sachar creates a feeling of sympathy for Zero.

The following are PPTs and worksheets I've created or found to use as part of a unit of study using a Post-1914 play. The play I&'ve used (with great success for two years now) is David Calcutt&';s adaptation of Dracula. The assessed piece of work at my school requires pupils to write their own gothic story, but I've also included another simple task that I found online awhile back (creating a Vampire Hunter guidebook), that may be more suitable for lower ability groups. Feel free to adapt and edit the work here; it&'s a good start, but it is by no means perfect :) Happy teaching!

The first part of a creative writing for Year 7 students. Students assess their own writing skills, and then build these skills up. Sentence types, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary and literary devices. Can be adapted to suit ability (I am aiming it here at writing levels 4 - 6). I hope to add the rest of this unit soon; the focus will be on poetry for the latter half of the unit.

I've adapted a Literature Circle task to aid in the study of Never Let Me Go, which I plan to use next year with my top set year 11 group. I've also included the lessons I plan to use to go through the chapters of the novel - reading is done outside of lesson, so you may find that you go through each 'lesson' PPT at a faster rate than one per lesson, so don't be scared off by amount of 'lessons'!

The first resources for a Scheme of Work introducing KS3 students to the life, context and works of William Shakespeare. Resources include worksheets and powerpoint presentations. The unit itself is meant to allow students to experiment with speaking Shakespearean English, and to build their confidence. No one play is studied in depth, but rather a selection of his works are briefly discussed and key scenes are read through.

SOW created using a mish-mash of resources found online. Students build skills in writing using quotes as well as developing their ideas based on those presented in a text. Final assessment asks students to explain how sympathy is built towards a character within an extract.

Part 2: The last 7 lessons for a unit on Private Peaceful. Scheme of Work with Powerpoint Presentations for each lesson. Final assessment was a Speaking and Listening task, but it could easily be adapted to include a writing assessment. There is one electronic resource missing here, as I did not scan the second text. You'll need a copy of &'All Quiet on the Western Front&'; - I took a section of the text, in which the narrator describes a gas attack.

The following resources I've adapted or created to create a scheme of work intended to introduce year 8 students to the codes and conventions used in print media, focusing on magazines and newspapers. For lesson 8, I did not save a digitical copy of the two articles used. They are &'How to stop vuvuzelas from taking over the world&'; by Conor McNamara and 'A stern defence of the vuvuzela&' bu Paul Geiss. A resource with lesson presentations and activities for My Year 8 unit on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Students work towards an essay assessment, which requires them to analyse how Scrooge changes after each visit by the ghosts. I&'ve updated these lessons recently (Nov 2010) to be a little clearer and easier to follow. The assessment task sheet is also better (in my opinion). Enjoy :) Also, I&';ve saved them as PPTs in the 97-2003 format, so that those not working on Vista/7 can access (I hope!)

First set of 17 lessons and resources for a non-fiction SOW looking at the Olympic games. Please see Parts 2 and 3 of same name for rest of SOW. I cannot claim ownership of all the resources, but I did create the PPTs myself, based on other stimulus. Apologies for any spelling/grammar errors - I don't catch them sometimes!

A collection of resources that I've used to help teach an introduction to the history of the English language - focus is on The Canterbury Tales. Assessment task is a comparision of the Miller and the Knight. Links in PPTs worked as of Feb 2012. I make use of Canterbury Tales play as well (not included here). Apologies for any errors.

Resources used with whole class reading of the class novel, included a reading and writing (media) assessment. Requires DVD copies of the 1981 BBC Version of the book, as well as the more recent 2009 BBC Version. Class has used the abridge novel, so resources are based on that version.
