Introduction of Les Restos du Coeur and their work to year 13. Brief explanation in English. The Restos du Coeur song linked in with a brief listening exercise. Finally a couple of exercises based on the new campaign for Winter 2014. Students watch the video and answer in French, then a gapfill. Could be homework. It took my students about 50 minutes in a computer room - they could control the video themsleves. Answer sheet given.
Two worksheets aimed at beginner year 7 French on the topic of family and introducing the vocab for family members.
The grammar focus is on mon/ma and j’ai to form sentences.
There are optional challenge questions but the idea would be that students could complete this work independently and without too much support. It would be good for homeowrk, to send home to complete or for when you need a quiet 20 minutes in class for whatever reason!
I have aimed this a middle ability set.
The first sheet is to build up from single items of vocab (family members) to sentences then on to a short paragraph. The idea is they will make fewer mistakes with writing as it is very scaffolded.
The second sheet is reading comprehension with the aim of them being able to use the reading to help them write their own piece using ideas taken from the examples they read.
A table of the topics covered since the current GCSE started.
I made it to see if I could predict the writing questions for this year’s exam.
You might like to also see if you can work out what the students will be asked!
powerpoint In response to posted comments 1)it is interactive, you are supposed to get them to predict the next word using mini FCs. Also this is just the presentation, there is also a millionaire game on here somewhere. This is not the whole lesson. 2) I have put I have played to get the students to understand the formation. Please feel free to explain the whole I have played / I played thing orally, as I do.
There is a sentence / paragraph builder on the topic of the Jubilee weekend and what your plans are and some translation suggestions underneath to help students start to use the grid.
The idea is that they use the grid to help them write a paragraph. They can stick to the suggestions or add own ideas.
Once it’s written I will correct it and then they write up the correct version in an outline of the Queen’s head for a display, it isn’t my outline so I can’t post it but I downloaded it here:

Enjoy, and I hope you enjoy the bank holiday.
Sentence builder to make short but correct (!) sentences about having animals/pets.
Uses all of avoir in the present tense plus negative and j’avais.
I made this for my year 7 lower ability to do as an independent task.
They are asked to write about their own pets at the end.
As my hallowe’en / end of half term activity this year we will be watching the trailer for the new Disney film Encanto due out very soon, doing observation questions, a gapfill and picking out vocab.
Enjoy!

Good for KS3 and also KS4 revision or Foundation
I think the 2023 Higher paper will have a question about Customs and Festivals in the 150 words section, based on looking at which topics they have asked in recent years.
Students see what an answer might look like then use my examples to write their own version
