Describing a seaside town, saying what you can do there, why you like it EPI work and activities based on a sentence builder Our local seaside town in Skegness but obviously please change it to yours

For my last lesson in y7 we will use this revision clock, printed to A3, to recap everything they learnt so far this year You can change the writing to be your topics, of course

A day out a the beach using a Sentence Builder to describe a seaside town, what there is in a town and say why we like it, what you can do there We re-wrote our SoW to be more relevant to our local context and we love Skegness, our nearest seaside town You could of course change the name of the town to your closest resort, I hope it’s as fun as Skeg Lots of activities and EPI style content of course

I think the 2023 Higher paper will have a question about Customs and Festivals in the 150 words section, based on looking at which topics they have asked in recent years. Students see what an answer might look like then use my examples to write their own version Answer given

A table of the topics covered since the current GCSE started. I made it to see if I could predict the writing questions for this year’s exam. You might like to also see if you can work out what the students will be asked!

French hobbies vocab builder then a bit of practice, easy independent work

Student use the writing frame to write a letter to their favourite teacher. We have completed the topic of school subjects, saying why you like them etc. This is an end of topic activity. Students write a letter in their book to their favourite teacher (they cannot pick me!). I check it. Then they write it SUPER neatly onto writing paper - I buy some cute paper and envelopes for this but you could just use coloured paper, ask them to illustrate it or whatever. The point is it is hand written and neat and nicely presented. My favourite part: I put the completed letter into the pigeon hole of the teacher. I don’t explain what it is. So the teachers get a French reading activity to do as well!

Talking about a holiday using past and future. Covers countries, transport, activities and opinions. Some teacher led activities, battleships grid, reading and translation, sentence builders.

A collection of sheets and activities I use to teach year 7 Spanish weather phrases, extending into adding activities, recapping places and family members. Basic, simple consolidation. I made these for a low ability group but have also used them with higher achievers as reinforcement.

Some (not too controversial) questions I have typed up to make discussion cards for my form for the Jubilee. I’m hoping to have a bit of cake and a chat. I thought we could sit in small groups, I’ll put a set of cards for each group in an envelope, it will start a discussion. My form are year 12 if that helps.

The idea is that they use the grid to help them write a paragraph. They can stick to the suggestions or add own ideas. No et Moi model essay It’s question 10.1 from November 2021 paper I wrote the essay myself to share with my students / follow up some recent mock exams we have done. I’ll use some textivate exercises to play with it and do some translation on it too. I have taken photos of the essay plans I wrote, I’ll look at that with my students first so they can see how I got to the essay.

My year 11 love Bigflo et Oli since we did the song Plus Tard and often ask for it. I made this for their song: Dommage First sheet is a gapfill Second sheet is a translation with some words in bold - the idea is the students ocmpare the two versions and underline the same words on the French version

Spot the difference sheet, basic paragraphs about family (brothers, sisters, a little extra detail). Students pick out basic info then use it as a model to write their own Family vocab sheet building up to writing a piece about family via a basic sentence builder, example paragraph, translation gapfill and word find activity

I am covering the Spanish topic of technology with year 9 Foundation Spanish group. These are the resources I have made to support the topic. I am trying to also remind students of past topic (family) and adverbs of frequency as I go.
