I love resources that ensure all pupils are able to access & feel confident within lessons. It makes me sad when a pupil feels stressed because they don't get it. I love hearing a pupil say "I am on it miss". All resources for main part of lessons are differentiated to 3 if not 4 levels of progress. Starters are mixed ability so that I can get pupils to feel confident in areas they struggle on. Any queries please email me; shacostello@gmail.com

Area of trapezium moving from basic to problem solving and then moving to volume of trapezium. Kids are in pairs and play against each other to get connect four. I make all learners write their full workings into their books. Learners enjoy the activity and it is great for discussion of where they got their answer from.

Factorising Simple Expressions (RAG Task)
onitmathsonitmaths

Factorising Simple Expressions (RAG Task)

(2)
Resource: Differentiated Task on Factorising Simple Expressions. Red ( foundation Stage) ; Basic style factorising ( 3x + 6, -2x-4) Amber (Developing Stage); still quiet basic ( for example: a squared + 12a) Green (Secure Stage); Factorising simple expressions with confidence - squares and cubes in both terms etc. Idea behind tasks; This task is to address a gap in knowledge for many of my foundation pupils with factorising expressions. They often get no marks when it includes a square or they start off correctly and then mess up the bracket. This is to really hammer home the style of question for two marks in the exam that should definitely earn our pupils full marks. Pupils choose which colour they feel confident attempting. If they are really confident they should choose green, the secure option, if they are struggling they should choose the red or amber option (foundation – basic assessment of skill, amber is a little bit harder). Pupils show the questions, working out and answers that they have attempted in their class book. Pupils self assess or peer assess at the end of activity to show themselves how much progress they have made. Answers provided for each stage. Printing tip; Print - fit to page or fill entire page so they only print on A4. Choose this option on your printer. I have changed the background to white to make it cheaper. Terms of use; Please use only by the customer paying for the resource.
