Can you guess the number sequence? Click on the hide / reveal Alien heads to see if you were right. This would make a great mental and oral start in KS2, or just use it as a way in to discussing number sequences. You can also click on the bodies of the aliens to hide / reveal a space suit. These are a fun way to play at Christmas time. IDEAS for use: (1) Use them for feedback (eg put questions on your whiteboard, and put a present containing stars next to the correct answers. Use these Phonic Fish to blend and segment phase 5 phonemes. Think of the number of phonemes in the word. Click on the mouth of the fish and it will do a ‘phoneme count.’ Click on the grapheme to hear the phoneme. Click above the grapheme to hide/reveal a ‘sound button.’

The classic Magic Square problem comes to your Interactive Whiteboard. All rows and columns sum to 15. Can your pupils identify the hidden numbers? All numbers are on Aliens which hide and reveal the numbers when you click on their heads. This means you can make the number square easier / harder to solve before presenting it to your class. You can also click on their bodies to hide / reveal a space suit. This could be used, for example, to mark the Alien you are thinking about. This is ideal for a mental and oral starter. Put the ‘okay’ balloon next to the correct answers and the popping balloon next the the answers that are incorrect.
