A really quick example problem pair and activity. Not a whole lesson. Just wanted to be more explicit about teaching addition of surds, rather than having it as an after thought when I multiplied them.

KS3 Coordinate Geometry Starter Example/Problem pair Midpoints miniwhiteboard work and an exercise Then a stolen exercise from Don Steward thats AMAZING, finding the coordinates of the vertices of shapes. That’s why I’ve called it coordinate geometry rather than just midpoints.

A really simple set of slides. First a little task on how to spot if two vectors are parallel, then one example, then 4 exam questions for students to work through.

6 starters that help students connect the different words for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Lots of questions like ‘6 and 4 more’ and ‘4 lots of 6’ and ‘4 increased by 6’

Quite like this. A little discussion on finding the midpoint, followed by an example problem pair, followed by a very scaffolded exercise followed by an activity where pupils have to look at what’s changed, which I think is quite cool. I used Dr Frost to top off a little bit of practice here, too.

Deals with simplifying two part, three part ratios. Also includes a simplifying ratio colouring in puzzle, with loads of odd and weird ratios to discuss.

Made these as a way of drilling into my students useful facts that they should commit to memory (ie 1/5 = 0.2). Made to be used like old spelling tests. Give out the facts. Students use memory techniques like covering up etc to remember them, Then they can be given a follow up test (included) to see how much they’ve remembered.
