I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. This is a 20 minute session which can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or could be easily shortened and it can easily last 60-90 minutes if required focusing on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia (originally created on 30th January 2022 but fully updated on 25th February 2022). It was originally being used for a Citizenship tutor time News session. This is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-13). There are no written activities but plenty of discussion tasks and downloaded video clips that will never disappear. This covers:  What is happening between Ukraine & Russia  Key terms - Soviet Union, Kremlin, NATO  How UK and US have reacted to the Russian troops on the border  What has happened now Ukraine has been invaded by Russia  A video that explains the conflict  Information about the history and sanctions  Debate about sending troops to Ukraine - practicing democracy in class vote  Discussion questions  Connection to Fundamental British Values  Connection to the UN Rights of a Child  Two reflection points  A brief look at what else is going on in the news this week  A few links for extension tasks or home study It also contains an updated PowerPoint which I am using for 7th March 2022 which has the same format as above and has the downloaded video clip from Newsround and a video about how to spot fake news. They are narrated sessions but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide. This session covers PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and Character Education and is suitable for a whole school focus.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE or Safeguarding session which is fully narrated and designed for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It outlines: What peer on peer abuse is Why stopping it is so important How students can access help and support The 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act How peer on peer abuse affects someone Signs of a negative relationship Pupil code of conduct How pupils can show positivity at school and form positive relationships Definition of peer pressure and the need to create an equal community There are discussion questions and quotes to aid discussion and these can be turned into written activities if you want to make this session last a whole lesson. There are two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and it is narrated although you can delete this by just deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer. This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.

This is a comprehensive list of hundreds of relevant awareness days for a primary or secondary school. It maps the entire academic year and includes over 300 different dates and days. This is useful for pastoral leaders, PSHE leads, SLT or anyone that is putting together an assembly rota, bulletin, calendar or diary for the academic year starting September 2022. It includes cultural, religious, personal, health and social awareness days and has been triple checked for accuracy. I have pulled together all of the dates so you won’t find a more comprehensive diary anywhere. This will be a document that is updated as more dates are added next year or there are any changes. It brings together all of the useful special days for schools to focus on as part of their PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC, Healthy Schools, Character Education, Finance Education, Religious Education and whole school ethos. All of the proceeds of this resource will be given to Save the Children for Ukrainian refugees. This is a 10-20 minute assembly on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. It is specifically about this year’s commonwealth games and focuses on how it will change and has changed the city of Birmingham. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) as an assembly or tutor time session. It has no written activities just discussion tasks but this can easily be changed to make it last a whole lesson. This is a 15-20 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE session on keeping safe both walking to and from school, in the local community and online. It can be shortened or lengthened to be used for a whole lesson. It follows the Relationships, Sex & Health Curriculum introduced in 2020 and explains how students can keep safe. It was delivered to KS3, KS4 and KS5 with excellent feedback. The PowerPoint contains videos, discussion tasks but no written tasks. This is a 15 minute assembly about exam stress suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It is especially useful in the run up to any periods of assessment or exams. It covers different ways and tips to manage exam stress by three downloaded short video clips that will never disappear! It has some discussion questions but this session could be lengthened by students writing notes and their own revision plan if you needed it to last a whole lesson. It was originally a Year 9 tutor time PSHE session about the importance of looking after student’s mental health in the run up to an assessment period. It fits into the new Relationships & Health Education, the Mental Health agendas, Keeping Children Safe in Education, Careers and Exam Skills and the PSHE Curriculum or it can be used as a whole school resource as an assembly.

This is a 15 minute assembly about positive relationships. It can be used as part of tutor time, a whole school assembly for 11-18 year olds or as part of a lesson or on an online learning platform. This can be used for PSHE, Citizenship, SMSC, Tutor Time, Assemblies, Whole School days, Online Platforms and teaches the students how to have positive relationships in their lives. It talks about prejudice, discrimination, bullying and aims to teach students how to have positive relationships. Students responded really well to this whole school assembly.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time resource about COP26. It could be used for an assembly or PSHE/Citizenship session. It explains what COP26 is, what climate change is and gives some more information about why it is called COP etc. There are many discussion tasks and these could be written tasks if you wanted to lengthen it to a whole lesson. There is a short video that is downloaded so it will never disappear and there are some links for further study or extension work. It includes a link to British Values, the UN Rights of a Child and includes reflection and extension slides containing interesting quotes and debates. This is most relevant for the end of October and November 2021 when COP26 is taking place in Glasgow. This was originally a Citizenship tutor time session for KS3, KS4 and KS5 and is suitable for all year groups (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). This gives great overview of some of the issues involved in climate change and COP26.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly, PSHE or tutor time session covering what the Prevent strategy is. It includes some videos and discussion points around Prevent and information about how to spot signs of radicalisation. This was originally delivered to KS3 and KS4 but could also be suitable for KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). There are no written tasks in this presentation, it is an overview of these topics in line with the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum, SMSC and Fundamental British Values. It could also be used in an assembly or whole school setting as a quick reminder of Prevent and Radicalisation. It can be lengthened or shortened depending on the timing of the session. The videos are downloaded so will never disappear. Students reacted well to this session and some important and interesting discussions were had.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly about the refugee crisis in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. It is suitable for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-12) and has been used for a tutor time Citizenship session for the whole school. It focuses on: What is a refugee? Summary of Ukranian refugee crisis What the UK are doing to help Organisations that are helping Downloaded video (that will never disappear) from the news explaining how some refugees are facing delays to get in the UK Downloaded video (that will never disappear) about an 11 year old boy who travelled 750 miles from Ukraine alone to reach his family. Debate question regarding the £350 a month the UK government will give to anyone taking in Ukranian refugees How this connects to Fundamental British Values How this connects to the UN Rights of a Child Reflection and discussion points throughout Extra links so students can research further (mainly for online platforms etc or you are using it for a longer lesson) Links to newsround and bbc news website for a look at the news today. Logos, pictures and photos used throughout for visual cues and learners. This session is narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer. There are no written activities but this could easily be adapted to a whole lesson for Citizenship, Social Studies or can be used as a whole school resource. All proceeds of this resource will be donated to Save the Children for the work they are doing with Ukranian refugee children. All I ask is that you leave a review! This was originally a PSHE tutor time 15 minute session on Character Education and how to be a have a good character for KS2, KS3 or KS4 (Years 5-13, Ages 9-18). It can be shortened to 10 minutes or lengthened to 25 with discussion activities. There are no written activities in this powerpoint, just discussion tasks, a video that is downloaded so will never disappear and information for students to think about and discuss. This follows the Character Education guidance released by the DfE and the new Relationships & Sex & Health Education Curriculum in 2020. Students responded well to this session.

This PowerPoint assembly is fully narrated and covers some guidance for KS3-KS5 pupils about respecting their local community. This is particularly relevant for July 2021 as it goes through the easing of the lockdown restrictions in the UK. It can also be used as a more general tutor time session for PSHE on how to show respect and be kind to others. It includes two videos and two discussion questions at the end. It is 12 minutes in length as a narrated PPoint and then it leaves a few minutes to discuss how they think they can help the local community in the lead up to the Euros, the easing of restrictions and the summer holidays.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly about the importance of sleep suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It contains two short video clips that are downloaded so they will never disappear. This session covers: Why sleep is important What sleep deprivation is What happens to your brain and body if you don’t have enough sleep How much sleep a teenager needs How could a lack of sleep affect you at school NHS tips on how to get a good night’s sleep A true and false quiz to check learning and understanding. There are discussion tasks and videos to watch and a plenary task. Students reacted very positively to this session. It was originally a Year 7 tutor time PSHE session but can be used for any secondary school year group as an assembly.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about emergency first aid. It covers how to perform CPR and stop heavy bleeding. This is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-12) and can be used as a tutor time session, PSHE or Citizenship lesson or Health whole school assembly. It fits into the new RSE and Health Curriculum of 2020 but can be used for other purposes to teach people these important life saving skills. It includes: What CPR is How to perform CPR How to stop bleeding when someone is bleeding heavily What a defribrillator is Infographics to remind students of first aid Dual coding and discussion task This does not include any written activities but ends in a discussion task about whether you should give anyone who needs it CPR. This was originally used for a Year 11 PSHE tutor time session about emergency first aid after an introduction to CPR earlier in the year and in school.
