A lesson which guides pupils through how to write a creative piece, with live marking target codes for instant improvement.

An A5 card that I print out, laminate and give to my students at the beginning of the year. It contains a number of activities to support them when learning their weekly spellings. I use with KS3 students but this is a great resource for students of all ages. It even contains a numeracy activity!

A detailed lesson on Robert Browning's My Last Duchess. The lesson encourages students to make inferences and explore the vocabulary of the poem before reading it. It is differentiated three ways so that all students are supported and challenged throughout. All resources are included.

A descriptive writing lesson taught to a very bright year 7 class but could be easily adapted for all year groups. The lesson includes a three-way differentiated reading activity as a springboard for students to write their own descriptive piece to create tension. Success criteria, redrafting opportunities and musical chair peer assessment all feature in this lesson which was graded outstanding in a recent observation. Three reading extracts have been included.

A PPT for a whole-school Spelling Bee. Audience participation activities are included between rounds so that students can be kept entertained while the scores are being calculated. A spelling list is included but might need differentiating depending on your needs. Now includes two in-class Spelling Bees (three rounds in each) to decide on spellers for the team or to get everybody practising for the big day! Also included is a PPT lesson on why spelling is important with a few fun activities!

This lesson uses a visual prompt to encourage students to write a descriptive paragraph. It then leads them to think about their vocabulary and structure by using a continuum. This is a quick and effective way to encourage students to think about language and structure and could be easily adapted for many uses and all year groups.

A sequence of four lessons that were designed to help with the transition period for year 7. The unit starts with an imaginary plane crash on a deserted island and students are encouraged to work in groups in order to establish their society. All lessons are fully differentiated with learning objectives, support and stretch on most slides and an extra stretch question on most slides. The scheme refers to extracts from Robinson Crusoe and Lord of the Flies and deals with some quite challenging ideas as well as quite challenging texts. All reading materials and resources are included.

A fully differentiated lesson on Robert Browning's The Laboratory with lesson objectives and new GCSE assessment criteria. Students are encouraged to make inferences or engage with the story of the poem at the start of the lesson and then work through it in order to answer a question based on gender representation. All resources are included: images, LA starter, writing frame, differentiated copies of the poem.

This is week one of a 6 week scheme (I will upload the subsequent weeks as I go). This first week concentrates on the context and the opening of the novel. An introductory lesson to Ozymandias that takes students through the sonnet form as well as supporting their language analysis. Starter activity designed to support GCSE Language to keep students building their skills for all exams.

Two lessons designed to introduce students to the context of the novella. Students cover racial segregation, The Great Depression and the life of the author and how this might have impacted his writing. Fully differentiated with lesson objectives.

A booklet that can be used my students to track the books they are reading. Stickers can be added when a book is completed and students collect ten stickers to receive a small prize!

A lesson designed to revise and strengthen knowledge of persuasive features through letter writing. This lesson is designed around Twelfth Night but is very easily adaptable to suit any scheme. Full lesson objectives and success criteria included.
