I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

Spanish Greetings, Leave Takings and Basics Vocabulary Reference - This presentation and student reference includes 40 vocabulary words and phrases to teach or review basic greetings, leave takings, introductions, courtesies, basic questions/responses like how are you/I'm well, thanks, What's you name?, How old are you? etc. Accent marks and the silent h have different color font to highlight these from the very first time that students see them. There's also a brief gender explanation about the difference between masculine and feminine adjective endings. Daily review using this presentation will help students learn a lot in a short period of time. It's also a great review throughout the year. Each booklet contains 8 pages: the title page with 7 additional pages containing the insects mosquito, fly, beetle, ant, ladybug, bee and butterfly. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. Students first read and cut out the booklet that contains text and illustrations. They then sketch and create their own version using the text only template. The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text. 6 pages

This activity provides student practice with ser, descriptive adjectives, and llamarse. Each student interviews a classmate asking for the name and description of people such as his/her mother, father, favorite actor, Spanish teacher, pet, favorite grandma, etc. The interviewers record the responses and then rewrite the information in the 3rd person. A sample question/answer is: Question - Como se llama y como es tu actor favorito? Notes - George Clooney. Guapo, talentoso e inteligente. 3rd person sentences - El actor favorito de Luisa se llama George Clooney. El es guapo, talentoso e inteligente. This can be done in or outside of class and is a good substitute teacher lesson and activity. Student answers will vary, but a sample answer key is included that can be used to prep students for the activity.

This log or agenda allows students to write 3 weeks of assignments for one specific class all on one page making it easy to quickly see the content, assigned dates, due dates and whether the assignment has been completed. Students must: 1. Respond in complete sentences to 11 questions about weather and preferred activities during different seasons and under different weather conditions. 2. Write a Spanish weather word under each of the 12 clip art images shown. Each question begins with "¿Qué te gusta hacer cuando...? / ¿Qué no te gusta hacer cuando...?" plus a season and/or weather condition. A sample question is: ¿Qué te gusta hacer en enero cuando nieva? Answers will vary, but there is a sample response key that can be used as an in class reading activity, or to prep students for the assignment.
