Create an example Taboo-style game for GCSE students based on one of the SetWorks and then give them the template to create their own. Colour coded using the same analysis colour scheme used in all the resources I have developed. Add a bonus reward for the students who can give examples related to the word on their card. Adapt for KS3 or even KS5. Offered here as an editable Word Document. Print double-sided on thin card flipped on the long edge. NB. It looks a little strange in the preview/info but I know the file is fine in Word 2016 and so I’d be interested to hear from anyone who tries downloading whether it works successfully. **Colour-Coded cards (two types) Key Signatures for teaching/revising/practising quick recognition. ** A single or double loop-style game. A major-keys loop and a minor-keys loop which can be played separately or simultaneously where each student has one (or more) cards. Loops can be played by a whole class working against the clock as a team. For increased challenge, a large class can be split into smaller teams (perhaps in competition against each other) and students can each be given multiple cards to play with one or both loops at a time. Cards with Key Signature on one side and sharps/flats on the reverse. Print back to back (flip on long edge) on stiff card and cut to size.Print back to back on card (flip on long side) and cut out.Element on one side and location in piece on reverse Use as: Loops: an interactive lesson starter/plenary/revision aid Whole class or group team games (eg cards are dealt and laid out in front of each player - students view the backs of each other’s cards - they take turns to ‘steal’ their opponents’ cards by identifying what is on the other side of the card eg. “I choose ‘Bb major’ - it has Bb and Eb” (or vice versa if the cards are being held the other way around). The card is then given to the student (if answered correctly) or retained by the original holder (if incorrect). The winner is the student with the most cards.

Use as: an interactive lesson starter/plenary, (Students try laying out the cards in the correct order, perhaps beating the clock or each other) revision exercise aid to classroom games (eg cards are dealt and laid out in front of each player - students view the backs of each other’s cards - they take turns to ‘steal’ their opponents’ cards by correctly identifying what is on the other side of the card: “I choose ‘bars 1-10’ as that is the Grave Intro” - or vice versa if the cards are being held the other way around - the card is then given to the student who answered correctly and they build up a stash of as many as possible - the winner is the student with the most cards)

A useful aid to writing Section B 12 mark extended comparative answers.
