I made this for my class to use for self registration. I used the image of a tree with each branch representing a different emotion. The children had their pictures mounted onto leaves which they could stick onto the relevant emotion. If they were worried or sad I made time to speak to them privately.

Forces - Pushes, pulls and twists

I used this lesson to introduce forces in our cross curricular topic on The Carnival of Animals but it would be a good introduction any time. Children were given a spinner, put in pairs and had to make animals from playdough but could only use the action described on the spinner (push, pull, twist, break, squeeze). Lots of opportunities for language and discussion. I hope you find it useful!

Here is a medium term plan and all the necessary resources for this topic including powerpoints, Smartboard activities, design and evaluation sheets. The Soil Association and Food a Fact of Life websites are fantastic for this topic, there are plenty of lesson plans and resources. I hope you find this useful! Please leave feedback!

These word documents are designed to be printed and made into A5 booklets on plants. I have screen grabbed the pages from websites but have tried to disguise this! I hope you find it useful!

I have used this to stick on the wall in my 'Minibeast Investigation Area&'. There are probing questions which the children might not be able to read but these act as a prompt for any adults working in the role play area with them. Some pages are meant as a whole poster, some pages need chopping - this will hopefully become apparent when you see it! I hope this helps, I struggled to find much of any use for the role play area in a minibeast topic.

This is the medium term plans and all the necessary resources (including powerpoints and worksheets) for this Scheme of Work. Some of the powerpoints are from the Greenwich LGFL website. I found very little available for this topic online so I hope you find it useful.

New Zealand Resources

For a New Zealand Day at my school I created these resources and a timetable of the day. It is intended for KS1 so might seem simplistic in the explanations of Maori culture etc but you can adjust if you wish. These resources include an intro to NZ, a traditional tale of how Maui tamed the sun, intro to an activity making tattooed Maori masks, simplified instructions for a dance lesson teaching the Haka, activity sheets for colouring in and continuing a maori pattern. Please comment and rate this resource, it pleases me and my geeky enthusiasm for sharing!

I have used this in my Minibeast Investigation Area in my role play area. I struggled to find any useful resources for this topic so I hope this helps! Some pages can be used as a poster, other pages need to be chopped, you can hopefully tell when you read it.
Caribbean and UK comparison

Caribbean and UK comparison

(15)
This resource is a package for a whole lesson focusing on comparing the Caribbean with the UK. Looking at houses, markets, beaches, landscapes, people. Children are encouraged to find the differences and similarities between the two locations. In groups children need to sort pictures into those belonging from each location and then complete worksheet where they write down 3 similarities and 3 differences after brainstorming adjectives to describe the Caribbean.
