The eight process standards as defined by the Common Core are the foundational skills that students must use in effective problem solving. These posters take the skills and define them by asking students to think about the mathematics with open ended questions that help them make connections about the math they are doing and the context they are applying them to.
The 8 mathematical practices are important for students to understand as they engage in rigorous mathematical tasks and learn to understand how the language of mathematics works.
These classroom pennants will help remind students to think about the processes they are using as they develop new skills.
This set of classroom posters are a great way to get students thinking about what having "Attitudes of Excellence" means. They can think about how these attitudes apply to their lives, how they impact their learning, how they treat others, and how they see the world around them.
These attitudes; appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect, and tolerance help students grow as they work inside the classroom, and take their learning to the great big world outside of it as well!
I have included four different sets to match the decor of your classroom.
-Chevron with greens, pinks, and tan colors
-Black and White (I used these last year!) which are wonderful to print on colored paper to make a BIG statement.
-Geometric with Bright Colors (I'm using these this year!)
-Bright Water Colors

These puzzles help students use a variety of strategies when comparing and ordering fractions.
Sets with like denominators, like numerators, and a variety of denominator combinations to support the use of equivalent fractions and fraction/decimal conversion help students work flexibly to be successful with these tasks.
Great for Stations or a Class Wide "Scoot" with Partners!
These puzzles are easy to set up and self checking! To set them up just print (two sided), cut them out, and paperclip the sets together or sort into small baggies. Then students can organize them in order from least to greatest.
If they think they are in the right order they flip them over and look for the message on the back. If the message makes sense, then they have them in the right order. If not, they should flip them over and try again.
A student recording sheet and key is also included! :)
A fun game for students to practice multiplying integers with 1 and 2 digit numbers.
Students place each puzzle piece so that each value is connected to an equivalent value. Pairs of equivalent values should be both vertical and horizontal.
It is a self checking puzzle, since it can only be solved completely with correct combinations.
Two levels of complexity
Level 1: Multiplying Integers with Factors -12 to 12
Level 2: Multiplying Integers for 1-2 x 2 digit factors

This file includes a problem solving task, slides that walk students through the problem solving process, as well as tips for teaching problem solving and possible questions for facilitating the task. It is provided as a pdf. as well as a ppt.
This task focuses on area and perimeter as students try to maximize the area of a bunny pen for a predetermined perimeter.
Students engage in true problem solving as they explore the possibilities for the bunny pen in this version of a classic mathematical task.
This PowerPoint includes teacher facilitation questions, a guide to understanding the mathematics in the problem, a scaffolded approach to problem solving, and possible solutions. This is the method I use to help my students engage deeply in problem solving and stretch themselves beyond "number plugging" as many students do when they solve a "word problem".
I have included a powerpoint version as well as a printable .pdf to fit the needs of your classroom.
