A series of three lessons requiring students to use their skills in collaboration, critical thinking, communication and creativity. Using the idea of Dragons’ Den, students will work together to create their own theme park. As the teacher, you will only act as a facilitator. They will have to assign roles within their group, work out costings (budget sheets included), write a pitch (questions included to help) and pitch their idea to the ‘dragons’.

Introduction lesson for conflict poetry. Lesson includes: questions to aid class discussion about different types/topics of conflict poetry students using extracts from different poems to develop their understanding of the different topics that could be explored in conflict poetry group activity involving students creating their own conflict poem using words from ‘Where is the Love?’ by The Black Eyed Peas

An introduction lesson into dystopian literature. Students will look at the similarities, differences and features of utopian and dystopian literature. The lesson includes discussion based activities to develop students’ critical thinking and analysis of the short story, ‘The Ones Who Walked Away from Omelas’.

Lesson teaching students how to write a review. Students will look at features of a review and examples in order to help them write their own successfully.

Lesson analysing Childish Gambino’s video ‘This is America’. Students will work collaboratively to examine aspects of his video, considering his viewpoint and perspective on violence and race relations in America . Students are then given an AQA English Language Paper 2 Q4 exam style question to answer.

A detailed lesson for Act 2.3 of ‘Macbeth’. Students are in role as police inspectors and must use observations and deductions to work out who killed King Duncan. Great way to get students to analyse the scene through role play.

Worksheet looking at sentence structures. Students will first look at the definitions of simple, compound, complex and minor sentence. They will then have to identify what sentence type has been used in a series of sentences, ending with rewriting a piece of writing using a variation of sentence forms.

Students will work collaboratively to analyse lines at word level from Romeo’s speech in Act 1, Scene 5. To help pupils think critically , key questions are given to guide them through. AO focused questions are also given for students to answer as well.

Useful worksheet for A-level students. Students will use questions focused around the Assessment Objectives to provide more effective revision notes. Lesson idea: Add document to Google Docs Put students into pairs and give them a different AO question to focus on Sit back and watch the students work! View their responses live on Google Docs and provide questions to aid them when necessary At the end of the lesson, the students would have positively collaborated to create revision notes.
