TES Global, the company behind the world’s largest digital community of teachers and publisher of TES and Times Higher Education (THE), today announces the appointment of the Rt Hon David Willetts MP as chair of its new higher education advisory board.

Mr Willetts, who served as the UK’s university and science minister from 2010 to 2014, will lead a board of international higher education experts to provide strategic guidance as TES Global enters a phase of investment and development for THE and the THE World University Rankings.

Mr Willetts, who is due to leave parliament at the next general election, has recently been appointed as a visiting professor in the Policy Institute at King’s College London. He brings a wealth of knowledge about higher education at a time of rapid change, when the exchange of ideas, staff, students and funding is increasingly international in scope and scale.

Louise Rogers, CEO of TES Global, said: “We are delighted that David has agreed to join us to provide strategic guidance at the corporate level.

“He will bring unique insight into the changing shape of the higher education landscape globally, which will be crucial to ensuring we develop our higher education business in the right way, keeping academics and university administrators, as well as students and higher education policymakers, at the heart of everything we do.”

Mr Willetts said: “I am delighted to be taking up the Chairmanship of the Higher Education Advisory Board. The Times Higher Education does not just play a role in British higher education; it has a global influence and I look forward to enhancing this”.

TES Global will announce further appointments to its higher education advisory board in due course.
