The Avanta awards recognise journalists who excel in the fields of welfare reform, skills and unemployment. Julia’s four-page news focus on youth unemployment was cited for its punchy writing, backed up by lots of evidence.
TESS editor Gillie Macdonald said: "We're delighted about Julia's success in these UK awards. We're a small team up here in Edinburgh, so it's great to add another trophy to our cabinet."
Now in their seventh year, the Avanta awards were presented on 3 May at the House of Commons, London.
