Win A Robot World Cup Football Drawing Competition

Win A Robot World Cup Football Drawing Competition

Last week I found a small UK tech company which was giving out great computer prizes and no-one was entering them. I decided to use them to create a drawing competition in my class - after all what is more motivational to a class than a great chance of winning! I used it to share ideas about what makes a great invention. We discussed ideas of what would or would not win - then created our work of art. INVENT THE 2098 WORLD CUP Future Inventors, we have a new challenge for this week. The World Cup is about to start and it got us thinking: what will the 2098 World Cup look like? Flying referees? Virtual stadiums? Techno-vuvuzelas? Submit your ideas and the winner gets a FREE kit and see it become a project on Club Make! We accept ALL ideas: practical, fun to absolutely bonkers. Entering the challenge is super easy: just draw your idea and share it below! They accept submissions until the 24th of June at http://bit.ly/WinARobot.

SPORTS DAY!

SPORTS DAY!

Try having a ‘class’ sports afternoon/morning rather than a more traditional ‘whole school’ approach! Example Timetable: Mon am: Nursery Mon pm: Reception Tues am: Year 1 Tues pm: Year 2 Wed am: Year 3 Wed pm: Year 4 Thurs am: Year 5 Thurs pm: Year 6 I’ve attached a simple but effective programme for sports day that includes 6 different activities. These are: Standing Broad Jump Javelin Sprinting Egg and spoon Quoit Scramble Obstacle course All activities can easily be adapted!! I’ve also included a sports field plan and 3 different group timetables (up to a maximum of 12 in each group). You could order some ‘Ice Pops’ for the children (also integrated into the plan). Good luck!!

Swimming Skill Descriptor (Year 7-11)

Swimming Skill Descriptor (Year 7-11)

How does the assessment rubric work? *Swimming Skill Descriptor * to be used for years 7-11. Produced in a user friendly format for both teachers and students alike. Accommodates both an attainment 8 format of assessment and (or) a sub level grading system. How does the assessment rubric work? •The difficulty of the skills are grouped from easy – hard. •The progress continuum along the left hand side indicates the main skills that each student at that age group should be able to perform. •The skill level number links to attainment 8 and should allow teachers to accurately calculate individual levels. Eg. Student ‘X’ in Year 7 is able to perform all the Year 7 skills in addition to 2 year 8 skills. His/ her level is therefore 4+4+4+4+4+5+5 /8= 4.4. From this you are able to see that this student is .4 above their expected grade level. • If using a sublevel grading system, the scores should be calculated using the following method. 1-2 skills from each table should result in a C or .3 being awarded e.g. If a student achieved 2 skills from the level 4 table, then their score is 4C or 4.3. If student is able to achieve 3-4 skills from a table, their score should be displayed as a B or .5. e.g. If a students achieved 4 skills from level 5 table, then their score should be displayed as 5B or 5.5. If all skills are achieved student should be award A or .8. e.g. a student who is able to perform all level 6 skills should be awarded a score of 6A or 6.8. Disclaimer Please note: Individual schools will have different demographics and cohorts. As such you may wish to change the grade boundaries/ expectations to make these more easily attainable or harder. This is done at the schools’ discretion. Furthermore, you may find that some students may not be able to perform all of their expected levels but yet still achieve 1 or 2 skills from other areas. This is unavoidable and as such requires you to use your professional judgement as to award the correct level. Like all assessment tools, this is fluid and can be adapted as and when you feel the need to.

Student Behaviour Reflection Sheet for PE - The PE Shed - Free

Student Behaviour Reflection Sheet for PE - The PE Shed - Free

The Student behaviour reflection sheet has been created by The PE Shed to provide PE teachers with a strategy for managing behaviour with minimal affect on the lesson. Students use this to reflect on an incident that has happened in a lesson. This strategy has multiple benefits: It reduces the affect on the lesson flow. It reduces the time teachers spend resolving incidents. It allows students to express their feelings. It allows students to have their view heard. It provides evidence for further reporting. This strategy requires students who have reading and writing skills and it generally works best with older students. Perfect for Primary / Elementary / Physical Education Teachers and Sports Coaches.
