There are opportunities to practise with smaller numbers (0-10) and also larger numbers up to 100. Personally, I cut out strips or blocks of the sheet to stick in the child’s book so that their books aren’t full of worksheets and/or half finished work. Children create their own A5-sized 2D shape fact file. They cut out the shape headings, matching shape image and description from the muddled up shapes document and stick it onto blank A4 paper, folded in half. Finally, put all the pages together with the cover pages to create the shape fact file and write a blurb for the back. I originally created this as an independent task for my more able Year 3’s but this would also suit Year 4 children and as revision for upper KS2. Practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s with these fun Easter puzzles! Perfect for Year 1 and revision in Year 2. The pictures help children to access the activity independently. I encouraged my pupils to work systematically, looking for the lowest multiple and working up because those that didn’t were more prone to making errors. I thought they would walk this activity but there was enough challenge in there to keep them interested and engaged. Spotting errors was a good way to check their understanding. Solve the code to reveal the shape names and match them to the correct shape. Perfect for Key Stage 1/lower Key Stage 2 revision of common 2D and 3D shape recognition and naming. There is an answer key included so that children can mark their own work if desired. I recently printed pages 2 and 3 of the file double-sided and used it as an end of term activity with my Year 1s - it kept them very quiet! Use these Christmas calculations to challenge your pupils’ understanding, ability to reason mathematically and algebraic thinking in a fun and engaging way! Using images to represent numbers, children use what they know to discover the value of the images. They need to understand the meaning of =, x and ÷ signs and the relationship between multiplication and division. The calculations include 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 times tables. There are 4 sets of progressively more difficult calculations, as well as 4 sets with the numbers given in an answer key for children requiring more support.
