Mandarin Chinese Short Story with Guided Activities: "Chicken and Duck"

A 5-paged short story on “Little Chicken and Little Duck” (“小鸡和小鸭”) in Mandarin with guided activities. This worksheet has been used in my lessons for years. I use this to teach children aged 5-10.

Contents:

1. 故事 – Drawings of story, story in Mandarin with Hanyu Pinyin and questions about story
2. 词汇学习 – Practice writing new words from the story (with step-by-step stroke guides on how to write each character)
3. 语文练习 – Practise using new words from the poem with short vocabulary exercises
4. 复习 – Revising new words learnt

Recommended way of using worksheet: Teacher is to read out the story to children while children follow along with the drawings. Then, teachers ask children simple questions about the story. Finally, children can attempt to read the story with the teacher with the help of the Hanyu Pinyin.
可以让孩子先仔细看图片，听老师讲故事，然后回答一些简单的的问题。如果孩子会认字，也可以试着跟老师一起读故事。

Worksheet is entirely in Mandarin to encourage children to stick to Mandarin when learning.

*Note: This worksheet was printed and scanned, hence it may not be perfect (for example, some lines may not be completely straight). Nonetheless, it is definitely readable and doable :)
