Linear Modeling Projects! (CCSS.HSF.LE.A.1)

Linear Modeling Projects! (CCSS.HSF.LE.A.1)

This class project is sure to be a hit with any and all of your students! This bundle includes 3 projects in one. All the projects relate around the same idea. Students have been hired as consultants for the Baltimore Ravens, Real Madrid or Monsters University to solve some problems. Students must use the provided data to create a linear regression (line of best fit, least squares equation) in order to determine a correlation coefficient. Afterwards, students identify residuals for each piece of data. After collecting all the necessary information, students are led through questions related to the organization. When I did this in class I gave all three projects and let them choose. The choices were mixed and the students loved that they were able to individualize the days lesson depending on their interests. After students were finished each group received a reporting form. This is the form the "consultants" would hand their employer to summarize their findings. This was absolutely a hit in our class! If you don't want all three I will put each project up individually. Multiplicative Counting (GCSE 9-1)

Multiplicative Counting (GCSE 9-1)

I pushed my Year 11 set one a little bit to try some of the harder GCSE 9-1 questions on this topic where they needed to decide whether they were permutations or combinations & needed to be divided by 2 (very basic with only 2 variables). They at no time use combinations - we just extended the counting principle for different 'choices'. They struggled to know when to divide when reading the question so I made some new ones up for additional practice. These are a mixture of general counting principle, combinations & permutations. Answers included. Please let me know if any of them need fixing/changing for clarity.

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME - STUDY BOOKLET

Haddon and The Curious Incident won the Whitbread Book Awards for Best Novel and Book of the Year, the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best First Book, and the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. Unusually, it was published simultaneously in separate editions for adults and children. This STUDY BOOKLET had been designed to challenge the grammatical knowledge and punctuation skills of year 7/8 pupils. It has a clear format and has been created to compliment the shared reading of the book. Also included are some NUMBER PUZZLES that feature in the book. This work can be presented as individual, group, whole-class or homework assignments. The Study Booklet can be used as a ‘Stand Alone’ resource as the book is not needed to complete it.

Classroom teachers and remedial teachers will find this book to be a valuable mathematical resource. Activities can be used as early finisher tasks, whole class lessons, practice and consolidation tasks or as small group challenges. All activities are linked to relevant mathematics outcomes. Mathematical Reasoning contains sections covering logical reasoning, equations, Venn diagrams and other problem solving strategies. Also included are challenging games and activities that explore a variety of mathematical concepts that are based on versions of popular everyday games such as Dominoes, Bingo and calculator activities.
