Sequence the events before using the word and sentence stem boxes to write up a response. Perfect for practicing exam technique and revising key events. Useful for a starter task or a homework activity or ideal for a skills lesson activity. 6 example questions included. Remind students that in the exam they have to explain 3 developments and that they should add their own knowledge when writing up. In the examination students should aim to spend 10 minutes writing up this question, so this could be a timed activity. I give my classes 15 minutes to cut out the labels, sequence them, add the extra knowledge and write up a response. It's important that the students start to get into the habit of arranging and sequencing the events and using the linking language. Edexcel Superpower Relations & Cold War L15 Why did Cuba become a problem for the USA?

Students begin by creating a caption for a cartoon of JFK. They then categorise knowledge cards before producing a SWOT analysis of Cuba for Castro in 1959 before he launches his revolution. They use their knowledge of Cuba and fresh evidence cards of the main incidents following the revolution to create a heart beat graph for President Kennedy. This is then used to respond to a series of questions. There is a homework activity on the causes of effects on the Bay of Pigs incident.
