Time - O'Clock and Half Past!

Time - O'Clock and Half Past!

This stimulating, highly-effective lesson enables children to develop the knowledge and skills that they need to tell the time at both 'o'clock' and 'half past.' It is made up of a series of succinct explanations, fun tasks and logical learning steps, including: - Playing the minute game; - Naming the hands on the clock; - Demonstrating their understanding through a carefully designed worksheet. This resource pack is made up of a colourful and engaging PowerPoint presentation, a time worksheet (in both PDF and Word) and a teacher lesson plan. By the end of the lesson, children should be able to: - Understand what each hand on a clock means; - Know how to tell an o’clock time; - Know how to tell a ‘half past’ time; - Be aware of different time values. This lesson was originally taught to a mid-attaining Year 2 class, however with appropriate intervention it could easily be utilised for any children across KS1 and lower KS2.

4 Calculation maths activity starter (x20) KS2 (Y3/4) Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/Division

4 Calculation maths activity starter (x20) KS2 (Y3/4) Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/Division

Calculation activity that allows children to practice all 4 operations (+ - x /) on a regular basis. This pack contains 20 sheets each containing 4 questions covering all four operations. The questions get progressively more challenging from sheet to sheet and so they can be used as a diagnostic check up for teachers throughout the year as children progress. Each sheet has space for working out, traffic lights for self assessment and a space for children to identify a target to work on for next time. These sheets are linked to progression in calculation through the year 3 and 4 curriculum. Also includes a blank template (Publisher format) if you want to make extra sheets. Number skills! (Place value, order decimals, +-x/ with positive and negative numbers!)

Number skills! (Place value, order decimals, +-x/ with positive and negative numbers!)

Everything you need to teach basic number skills! I used these lessons with a middle ability year 7 lesson at the start of the year to see how their basic skills were with decimals, negatives, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills. All lessons contain: 5 a day starter, learning objectives with progress tick sheet, Fully animated and clear examples, Differentiated, colour-coordinated questions WITH answers, Lesson 1: Place Value and ordering decimals. Includes a starter on writing numbers in words, examples of what place value means, leading onto how we can use this to find the value of numbers/decimals and order them. Lesson 2: Multiplication and division of integers of 10. Simple, clear examples with whiteboard activity to check progress, great for all abilities. Independent, varied colour coded differentiated questions as main activity. Lesson 3: Add and Subtract negative numbers. Introduction with temperature, followed by clear examples and differentiated and functional questions about real life examples. Lesson 4: Multiplying and dividing negative numbers! Separate examples of multiplication and division of negative numbers, with individual questions to complete for main task and challenging multiplication grid activity to end. Lesson 5: Mental addition and subtraction. Exploring various methods of mental addition and subtraction so students can be introduced to, hopefully, some useful new methods! Lesson 6: Written methods of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Numerous examples to go through as a class/students to go through with odd one out activities to self assess and mark work. These are some of my favourite lessons to use to really find out what students' number skills are like at the start of a year! Let me know if you enjoyed using them too, or if there is anything else you think! Thanks =]
