10B) Arthurs adventures continue - demonstrative and possessive adjectives

10B) Arthurs adventures continue - demonstrative and possessive adjectives

The Arthur series of comics in French, help our students who are working with Tapis Volant 2 but can be used by anyone. This is 10B in the series and continues the story of Arthur’s adventures in England form story no. 10. It demonstrates use of demonstrative and possessive adjectives and completes the grammar in Unit 10. On the cover page there are comprehension questions. Sadly, I cannot upload the sound file but a teacher can read out the text. We use the this for both listening and reading comprehension. You can white out the words if you want to use it for listening and students then have the comic pictures as support.

Market experience- Au Marche

Market experience- Au Marche

This lesson/activity can be approached from various angles. I used it as an introduction to phrasing questions as we had learnt the basic- ‘Puis-je avoir….?’ with classroom equipment. (The latter question was taught using sign language and is very effective with lower ability pupils). Pupils loved asking for food items. You can add a ‘bureau d’echange’ and pretend to swap for euros. This can lead onto a food topic or travelling topic. The activity of a market will need to be set up prior to the lesson and class rules be established. Create incentives which will reward pupils. One year, it was decoding a clue as they visited each shop. Everyone knows their own cohort. I have included some publisher documents which can be amended to create market stall signs. This can be also linked with D & T department. Pupils were looking at healthy eating and mediterranean produces. They decided to make a salad nicoise. I created a basic cook sheet with the D & T teacher and we arranged the stalls to have the correct items to make this salad. So not to waste tuna we provided bags of tuna!

Les vacances du petit Nicolas- Sempé- Reading comprehensions Higher

Les vacances du petit Nicolas- Sempé- Reading comprehensions Higher

4 reading comprehensions exercises from "Les vacances du Petit Nicolas." Perfect for teaching the topic of holidays. The short stories reinforce all vocabulary seen (places, activities, opinions, suitcase items, use of different tenses). I have selected extracts and added a series of questions. As this is an authentic text, I would aim these activities for a higher group (from year 9 to year 11). Great to include a bit of French culture and literacy in your lessons. I have added a link to the trailer of the film (adapted from the short stories). Could be a good way of introducing the topic or as a way to engage pupils before the reading comprehension. **Timers and answers are included. **

Studio AQA GCSE 2017: On négocie au souk_Module 5_Unit 5

This handout (1xA4) has been designed for my second year GCSE students (Year 11) . I have used these sheets in year 10 and they have been very helpful for students. As we are going through the book (Studio AQA), I am creating these documents for them to refer to throughout the year (year 10-year 11). Please note that if there is a mention of 'Check green grammar lesson', it is because I give them separate grammar sheets on a green paper. The text boxes are easy to delete if not needed. Make sure you click on the 'enable editing' box at the top of the document after downloading it.
