Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science Chemistry Progress Sheets

Progress, RAG style, learning outcomes sheets for use with all the Edexcel Combined Science Chemistry topics. I created these over the summer break of 2017, along with other additional resources to support my students that are now in year 11 who have had to go from starting the old GCSE to the new style GCSE. Although, I have already used these along with the others of biology, physics, separate chemistry and my KS3 sheets that I created at the same time, with all 10 of my classes this academic year and I have received such positive feedback from all my students and other staff who have also now began to use them and seen such a positive result. I give the relevant sheet to the students at the start of a topic and then at the start of each lesson, after the starter/walk in task, I have the relevant outcomes for that lesson from the list on a ppt slide for them to identify on their sheet whilst I'm taking the register, to read through and ask themselves how much do they know of it already and then to ask themselves again at the end of the lesson. So the students feel its beneficial to have the outcomes in writing and for them to have to really think about them at the start rather than just listen to me reading and pointing them out. To then visually see for themselves if they feel that they have taken something from the lesson and achieved the goals. Also they are finding them such a help when it comes to revision. Additional benefits include helping them track what they have missed if they are absent, so clearly know what they need to catch up on and to be able to open their books as a teacher and quickly identify from the colours where individuals are struggling or finding aspects easy, and during one to one chats being able to use it to talk through what they feel that they need a little more help on.

Takes you to a Google Doc which has contains the links to all of my YouTube videos (450 and counting). I teach the OCR A specification so the videos are geared to that course. I’ve had countless messages from students and teachers who follow other specs who have told me how helpful the videos have been. One teacher contacted me recently to tell me that they teach AQA, used the videos and scored ALPS 2. I’m in the process of creating some GCSE videos and so will add these to the index once done. As it’s a Google Dox, the link will always take you to the latest version. I also use Twitter and Instagram to post top tips based on what I see/mark in my day to day work. Hope you find it useful.
