#### Year 4 'Secret Agent Co-ordinate Training' Lesson (Complete Lesson with ppt, plan and resources)

Year 4 lesson on co-ordinates done in a fun and engaging way as ‘secret agent co-ordinate training’ with missions for the children to complete, infiltrating a pirate ring to crack a secret code to a treasure chest! I used the lesson for a job interview and was successful with fantastic feedback regarding this lesson! The class were a lower ability Year 4 class but this resource could easily be adapted to fit any ability year 4 class or even a more able year 3. Complete lesson including plan, PowerPoint, worksheets and resources. National curriculum objectives covered; -describe positions on a 2-D grid as coordinates in the first quadrant -plot specified points and draw sides to complete a given polygon

#### Higher Non Calc Problem solving questions with answers, from Edexcel Problem sets

I have put together a selection of problems from the Edexcel problem solving packs 2, 3 and 4. The questions should all be suitable for the non calculator papers and include solutions. I have also included some questions that are deemed to be calculator paper questions but can be answered without a calculator to further enhance and practise problem solving skills. I printed them out on A3 sheets and allowed students to work as a group of 3 -4 to solve the problems - feedback from students was positive.

Maths GCSE 9-1 Higher Non-Calculator Questions. This pack includes two 20 question diagnostic tests covering 20 different topics. The tests are aimed at GCSE 9-1 Higher Level pupils but may also be useful for Year 10. The 2 tests have very similar questions. The problem of the dropped box of matches, pt 1 “Isabella Ringing dropped a box of matches, the box opened and the matches went everywhere. As she went to pick them up she knocked some of them into different positions. A 'hands on tool' to support pupils understanding of rotation. The two disc are to be cut out and joined using a split-pin, or similar. Pupils can use the tool to track basic rotations (clockwise and anti-clockwise) by placing the tracing over the scale. Designed for a very low ability year 7 class, very well received.

Over the years I have built up a rather hefty transformations notebook file. I believe this includes everything that needs to be included to be able to teach everything on transformations of shapes (including stretching the most able as well as scaffolding for lower ability). It includes activities which can be taken off and used as a worksheet (some answers included) as well as quizzes (with answers as well). This is my go to for any year group throughout KS3 and KS4 when teaching transformations as i can pick out the best bits. I hope this is useful for your too. Enjoy!
