The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no calculations left in the column whose number they have rolled, they either skip a go or roll again (depending on the rules you choose). Student write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. They can either use a different coloured marker to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same colour as their opponent. Answer keys can also be printed for student checking. Basic Sentences KS1

This is a popular hands-on Year 1 (Y1) making sentences or jumbled sentences word ordering resource. It’s a full class set of 30 different reusable simple sentence building activity boards, which now also comes with an additional worksheet version of all boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (or Primary 2 in Scotland), these sentence construction SPaG / Grammar activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1 in Scotland) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability. Emergent writers love lifting the words off the boards to sort and unscramble them to find the hidden sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, this word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resource suits a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the sentence out on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice with scrambled sentences should help children begin to form sentences independently. This is a 65 page PDF document in a Zip file, together with an additional editable Word document of the word cards only. Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop to pick up and place at the end. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and that a sentence must make sense on its own. These contain 4-5 words. A more challenging set featuring 6-8 word sentences is available, as is a muddled up questions version. SAVE by buying all 3 Sentence Ordering packs in a bundle. Jumbled Sentences (6-8 words) Jumbled Sentences (Questions) Jumbled Sentences BUNDLE Colour print on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each time. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a small group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring writing support. Words are printed in faint grey in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Good quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens will help with this! Please visit: FullShelf Resources

There’s a word mat for the List A words in 3 versions, including eco-printing options, a list page for both A and B and a combined list too. 5 WORKSHEETS: With full answer keys and all in 1- and 2-star versions. The 1-star versions are for lower ability, younger or less experienced students and contain support such as word banks or the start of missing words. Includes jumbled words, translations, and labelling worksheets. GRID PUZZLE: Students put the French body part words into the grid to reveal a related sentence in the shaded boxes. There’s a supported, one-star version with the first letter of each word and a two-star version without this support. HIDDEN WORD PUZZLE: Students work individually or in pairs or small groups to find translation errors with body parts vocabulary. When they find one, they circle the letter printed in the same box. At the end, they rearrange the circled letters to make another body part word. CROSSWORD PUZZLE: The clues involve students completing French phrases. An easier, one-star version gives students the first three letters of each word that they need to write into the grid. Accents not included. New Year's Resolutions Reading Comprehension

(0)
For New Year 2023 and back to school after the Christmas holidays, here is a differentiated January nonfiction passage / informational text reading comprehension, cloze procedure task, and fun puzzles, designed for upper Primary (Upper KS2 - Years 5 and 6 and equivalents) or early Secondary (KS3 - Year 7 and equivalents). These New Years themed close reading tasks and fun activities are in a printable non-editable PDF file with 20 pages. An additional US spelling / grammar version is included in the Zip file with a small number of amendments to the UK version. Also available in this money-saving**January Reading Comprehensions BUNDLE**.   Most activities are provided at two levels of challenge, therefore they will suit a range of year groups and provide appropriate levels of challenge for different abilities within many classes.   I am designing these non-fiction comprehension and activities packets to provide a variety of interesting and relevant texts and related activities, a time-saving bank of flexible themed tasks linked to dates throughout the year. They feature specially written very short texts (about 250 - 300 words). Each pack is linked to a particular month but of course you can use them whenever you want! Each provides comprehension questions, a cloze procedure task and other linked tasks. The other tasks are on aspects of spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, grammar, writing or reading (this varies across the different packs). Build all activities into your Literacy or English programme, or use for cover lessons, homework, early finisher tasks or for those times when everything goes crazy and you just need something low-prep, meaningful, relevant and engaging at the last minute! I hope you enjoy using them.   CONTENTS: Reading passage (2 levels of difficulty) Cloze procedure task (2 levels of difficulty) – using same passage Comprehension questions (2 levels of difficulty) – using same passage Vocabulary grid puzzle (2 levels of difficulty) – using same passage Proofreading puzzle Full answer keys Teacher notes   YOU MIGHT LIKE… Complex Sentences Activity Cards Editing SPaG Puzzles Worksheets Full Stops and Capital Letters Cards Improving Sentences Writing Worksheets Winter Stories Creative Writing Story Prompts Creative Writing Story Prompts

They can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. These puzzles are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a decimals, fractions or percentages calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. On some puzzles there is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. Money Activities Change from £20

(1)
Money Games (Calculating Change from Twenty Pounds) for KS2, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6, depending on ability: differentiated, illustrated four-in-a-row boards, each featuring 36 prices in UK currency (sterling) for finding change for £20, plus a 20-card loop card / dominoes set. A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. 2 PDF files. Includes: 2 standard game boards (featuring different items and prices from each other) 2 lower ability boards (as above but less challenging calculations) Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by pupils or teacher Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £20, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required. LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the 'I spend' part first as they make their 'purchase' with others working out if they have the relevant 'I give you'. Use as a game for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success. I have packs for calculating change from £1, £5 and £10, available with this pack in a bundle: Change Games Bundle Some of my other popular KS2 Maths resources: Mental Maths Bundle Multiplication / Division Bundle Angles / Symmetry Activities Bundle Thanks for considering my resources. Fun Key Stage 1 Maths add and subtract cards, ideal for independent work in Year 1 and Year 2 (Y1 / Y2). This free sample includes 16 printable write and wipe trail cards for early finishers, lesson starters, warm ups and revision, which will also suit some Year 3 (Y3) and older KS2 students requiring consolidation, including those with ASN / SEN. Regular practice using these resources will help to build speed and accuracy and they are an engaging change from standard worksheets. Laminate them for children to complete with dry-wipe pens or use in dry-erase sleeves if you wish to save on laminating. Alternatively, leave them uncovered and use as worksheets with a difference. These are great to have to hand throughout the year to use as last-minute meaningful ‘fillers’. They can even be turned into a competitive game if required, with pupils racing each other to complete.   4 cards have been taken from each of the following 4 full packs: Adding and subtracting within 20 Adding and subtracting within 50 Adding and subtracting 9, 10 and 11 Adding and subtracting multiples of 10   The full packs from which these cards have been taken each contain 36 cards and answer versions of all cards. All four full sets (144 cards) are available in a great value bundle here: Addition and Subtraction KS1 Maths Card BUNDLE   Or, if you would like just the first two packs, a smaller bundle is also available: Addition and Subtractions within 20 and 50 KS1 Cards. Starting at the top illustration and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total as they go. The final answer is printed at the end of the trail, beside the illustration in the middle of the card, so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check their work to see where they have gone wrong. Thank you for your interest in my resources. I hope they work well in your classroom.
