The class explore the features within the story and respond by comparing the story to the original version. The independent task is differentiated three ways. The lesson focuses on how to describe a setting or character precisely, by using precise words and ZOOMING in on details to expand the description and slow down the narrative pace. The class explore these by looking at extracts together, before going onto try the techniques for themselves. This is lesson 3 in a series of 8. The whole scheme of work is also available as a bundle The planning for the whole unit of work is included in each individual lesson. The whole scheme includes a cold and a hot task, and culminates in the class writing the cold task again as a hot task - in order to demonstrate progress.
