Drama Achievement Reports

Drama Achievement Reports

Simple reports which allow teachers to record progress in drama for students aged 3 - 13 years. Each report covers a range of personal, social and performance skills for children to achieve and these are broken down into four key skills areas in which children learn to co-operate, create, perform and reflect. Markers allow teachers to chart an individual student’s progress through a full term or semester and each report provides space for comments and aims for that child. Not accredited in any way but based on 30 years of drama teaching experience. A great way to begin to quantify the developmental, social and creative benefits of drama. If you have found this resource useful please leave a positive review. Thanks!

This is a tried and tested strategy, that encourages pupils to think about different aspects of characters in fiction and non-fiction. It uses visual prompts and supports the writing of character sketches. It is also a useful route to discussion of texts and reading for meaning. It can be adapted for all ages and abilities, can be used in any classroom and requires few resources.

Morning song!

Morning song!

I noticed my children were coming into my class in a morning fairly tired, so I decided to create something to help them wake up and bring a smile to their faces. This is sung every morning and the class love it! I have had parents speak to me explaining their child won't stop singing it at home and they love it! I feel as though this is a great idea for every class as it does get the children ready to learn! More songs will be made for each half term.

Full Script of a play/musical of Oliver Twist

Full Script of a play/musical of Oliver Twist

This is a script that has been performed successfully by primary school aged children with adults, but can be performed by high school age and above. It’s 1 hour without an interval but has been written as two 30 minute Acts. Including the music adds about 10 minutes on each Act. The lines are suitable for children to learn (in our performance Oliver and Dodger were 8 years old) and has a suitable ending for a children’s production. The cover picture gives you an idea of costume and staging. I have had media consents to use this picture.

DRAMA STRATEGIES - 23 strategies for the non-specialist

DRAMA STRATEGIES - 23 strategies for the non-specialist

This is a pack of 23 drama strategies. Each strategy is fully explained and has examples for every relevant stage of the primary age range - I am a primary school teacher. However, these strategies are just as suitable in secondary schools, and they can ALL be used in a secondary setting. The strategy remains the same, it's just the topic or text that has to be changed for the older age groups. The strategies have been selected for the non-specialist to use, and focus on the development of speaking & listening. The pack is ideal for EAL children. There are two types of strategy: 1) Speaking is the end goal 2) The actual drama process relies on speaking & listening for its success Where required, resources are provided to accompany the strategies. There are several short script excerpts included.

Cautionary Tale

Cautionary Tale

Ideal for a lesson for Year 7. This PowerPoint is an hour's lesson for students on Cautionary Tales. Usually I will introduce the activity by having sweets or a phone out. I will clearly warn the students not to eat them/take them and then have one student who I have already spoken to take the sweet. We will then role play the student having eaten a stale sweet or pretend it is wax and pretend to rush the student off to the school nurse. Students love this as a starter activity but this is optional.
