This times table scheme is designed to help children become fluent in all times table by the time they reach year 5. Each animal is based on a year group where the times table should be taught. Children are moved on to the next stage once they have completed the stage sheet within five minutes and passed all questions. This resource is a maths poster giving ideas for different maths activities that use the vast amount of data that can be collected during Wimbledon 2018. The poster is organised using the strands of the curriculum ranging from year 1 to year 6, each one can be adapted to suit the age of the pupils. For number and place value, why not compare attendance figures or find out which is the most expensive ticket. For geometry, consider area and perimeter of the courts, angles of the ball when serving, volleying or taking overhead shots. Ideas presented here would also make a really good transition unit for year 6 pupils , enabling them to practice key skills in a fun context. The children spread them out face down and select two at random. If they make a pair, they get to keep them. Player with the most number of cards wins.
