Textiles - World Cup Kit Design - One off/ Cover lesson

Textiles - World Cup Kit Design - One off/ Cover lesson

Textiles - KS3 or 4. I’ve put together a quick cover lesson based on re-designing the World Cup 2018 Kit for a country of choice. The first part of the PPT is based on GQ’s article ranking the kits from worst to best. There’s some cutting comments so you may want to proof read and cut some if you’re not happy with them. As cover I would suggest printing the last 2 slides to use as templates then they can make the choice if they draw on there or trace the kits so they can make adjustments to the shape. I may also print the flag slides as reference/starting points for their ideas. Hope it’s useful for someone.

Rotations Organiser, How To organise and show progress over time in a folder.

Rotations Organiser, How To organise and show progress over time in a folder.

The main issues we had as a technology department is to show the students progress from one rotation to another. I have developed a ring bind folder organiser to help the teachers collate the information. The class Teacher can then hand the folder to the next teacher and it shows progress over time. Included in the document is a few templates. How to do rotations etc. You will store in the folder the following information Annual Rotation Class List (any new student this information requires updating by class teacher) Class Photos Seating Plan SOW (Class Teacher to assign their name next to the term) Class Analysis (Sisra) (Class Teacher to assign their name next to the term) Class Work Booklet (Class Teacher to assign their name next to the term) Homework Booklet (Class Teacher to assign their name next to the term)

Register Recaps - Lesson Starter Activities

Register Recaps - Lesson Starter Activities

5 Great lesson starter activities that can be adapted for ANY subject or curriculum. Activities are fun and focus on pupil choice for theory and literacy recap! Download the PowerPoint to use or adapt to suit your subject area. Brightly coloured with a simple layout: Knowledge Wheel: Students have to get from A-B by answering the questions correctly. However, if they want to get the most points, the must take the long route around, answering the more difficult coloured questions. This method gives students a choice and is differentiated for different levels of ability. Target Practice: Using 3 darts, students must select 3 questions to answer to try to get the most points. Question difficulty varies based on the number of points each colour is worth. Again, this method gives students a choice and is differentiated for different levels of ability. Keyword Scrabble: Students must figure out each of the keywords by answering the clues and matching the letters to the total number of points. This activity is a great way to check student understanding and correct spellings. Connect 4 Analysis: Students must connect 4 in a row, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. At the top of each column there is a product analysis heading. Student can only connect 4 if they correctly analyse the product based on the heading. For example: Analysis the function of the torch, iPhone, fidget spinner and washing machine. Analysing the aesthetics of the watch, consumer of the baby toy, function of the fidget spinner and material of the Xbox pad. The gives students a choice from a range of analysis categories. Vocab Snap: Students have 2 minutes to match the vocabulary word to its definition. Using a mini whiteboard they can write, 5E…1C etc. This is a great way of embedding keywords and literacy easily.

SECONDARY INDUSTRY- Ethical Shopping- Intro and Advert design- ENGAGING AND CREATIVE

SECONDARY INDUSTRY- Ethical Shopping- Intro and Advert design- ENGAGING AND CREATIVE

Used as a joiner lesson between introduction to secondary industry and Nike Sweatshops. The student learn about what Ethical Shopping is and how they as consumers have the power to change industry. They really enjoyed designing their adverts and were very proud when I put them on display. They produced them on computers but some did them on paper, both work as long as it is heavily sampled as many struggle at first with an adverts purpose and layout. The students will have lots of questions and I usually spend 3 lessons on this in total- 1st- introduce term and explain and assess sample ads/start designing. 2nd- Complete design and finish for homework. 3rd- Peer assess each other’s and link it to the environment. They then go on to learn about Nike and their understanding of ethical examples really helped them engage and progress. Please review if you download, thanks :)
